An evening trip out to Mayshiel for the Black-throated Thrush went to plan with great views in evening light. Lovely supporting cast of thrushes and Bramblings also - in addition to this morning’s Ring Ouzels, it became a 6 Turdus sp. day! #BirdingScotland @birdinglothian.bsky.social

Distant pics of an adult winter plumaged Little Gull and an adult Kittiwake, both flying left over a choppy sea.
A Little Gull yesterday feeding with Kittiwakes off East Head, Portsoy, was my first here in over two years.

Unusually high (400+) numbers of Herring Gulls at the reservoir today with a new site record of 16 (sixteen!) adult Lesser black-backed Gulls. Perhaps surprising that Saturday’s Glauc didn’t reappear. Warm weather also brought out the Clarke’s Mining Bees #birdingscotland

Great pre-work yomp around Holyrood park this am w/ @itssjoenichols.bsky.social. Highlights were 2 Ring Ouzels over Salisbury Crags, singing Grasshopper W, and 4 Wheatears which performed beautifully on the slopes below Arthur’s Seat summit #BirdingScotland @birdinglothian.bsky.social
Interesting theme Alan and nice shot to illustrate it - I’ve only seen a Jay once and not close enough to photograph.
This Peregrine was playing hard to get, hence the branches!

Nice examples for #BirdOfTheDay Rob.
I think this image gives the impression that it’s a reflection but it is 2 Cormorants showing off their #LongNecks in the River Clyde.

Nice photo!
This looks like a Humber-ringed Black-tailed Godwit.
The number of colour-ring sighting in Scotland is very much weather dependent. More here:

The harbour mouth at Aberdeen with a concrete pier and dark grey sea. A low double rainbow is over the pier with grey clouds above it. Broom bushes are in the foreground.
Aberdeen harbour mouth below a blue sky, with a large anvil shaped cloud.
A day of low double rainbows and anvil-headed clouds at Girdle Ness. My first Willow Warblers and Blackcaps appeared but were reluctant singers in the strong wind. Wheatears and White Wagtails are now passing through, on their way further north.

Pale-bellied Brent Geese were on the move over Barra today including this flock heading north at speed over our house in lousy weather. #birdingscotland
Fabulous views of the long-staying but sometimes elusive North American Bonaparte's Gull at various sites around Lerwick over the last few days. The ninth record for Shetland.

Black-tailed Godwit numbers are building in the Outer Hebs now with at least 125 around Coot Loch, Benbecula alone. Amongst them was this colour-ringed bird. #BirdingScotland #BirdingOuterHebrides
Little Gull, Scaup, Greenshank and Black-tailed Godwits among the other good birds noted on the patch in the last few days #BirdingScotland
Great start to my wee trip to Scotland this week, with both White-winged Scoter and Stejneger’s Scoter (pictured) located from the north side of the Firth of Forth in choppy seas!
Both were new for me 😀.
Lots of Velvet and Common scoters too. #birdingScotland
Nice shot and #BirdOfTheDay theme Alan. More of us will be going to #Woodland to see our birds over the summer! I always feel like I’ve had a good day out when I’ve seen a Treecreeper - and I almost didn’t see this one.

Glaucous Gull from Fraserburgh harbour, the winter birds are starting to dwindle in number... 🪶 #birdingscotland
Bumped into this brute of a Glaucous Gull at Inchgarth today, considering we’re just 6km from Aberdeen Harbour they’re ridiculously rare here- just my 2nd in almost 25 years and 3.5k visits 😱 also first Swallow of the year here #birdingscotland
