*And there was light*
Very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb -- after Mark 16.1-8
It’s Summer Time at 6am the day
the clocks have changed. Within,
the Lady Chapel broods
a silent dark. Without,
the dawning chorus start an inkling
there is something in the air:
/Let there be light/ they sing and
flickers of remembering
catch in charcoal, flaring
fire and flame and
bursting to /Exsultet! Be radiant
in the brightness of your King!/
It’s Summer Time and everything
has changed. An angel
perches where the stone is rolled and
all is surging life on life expressly
as foretold.

Christ is risen! Happy Easter!

Close-up on the level of a daff, with many others blurry in the background
A sward of wild daffs, dead bracken, and a few winter trees in the background
Oh all right, here are some daffs, taken last year

This weekend I made the annual pilgrimage to the host of wild daffs at Steps Bridge, on the edge of Dartmoor, so here's a video of an amazing ant heap

Text of the poem follows, © Clare Bryden.
Framing the poem above is a line of tiny repetitions of 'glass ceiling', and on the right reading vertically, repetitions of 'glass cliff'.
** Who shatter upwards **
Raise a glass to the women
who shatter upwards.
Cheer the women
who are wise and say no
or if they say yes
know how
executives hedging their bets
appoint them to run over cliffs
ready to crumble
and either way claim the credit.
And who are these architects designing glass ceilings
into every office block?
No need
to bow beneath such impractical fragility.
Raise a glass to the women
who shatter upwards.
Women and under-represented minorities are more likely to be appointed to leadership roles during a crisis, perhaps breaking a glass ceiling but at the risk of falling over a glass cliff. They may think they are taking the reins but wind up taking the blame.

Bright coral. Text overlayed on photo reads: history heaps sheering waves shattering across reefs.
Title reads: The long arc
Bottom text reads: Clare Bryden (c)
@clarebryden.bsky.social's 'The long arc' explores alternative ways of knowing, paying respect to the ways in which coral knows history and its environment, and the power it has to communicate that knowledge.

My #TinyJoys include my tiny #philosophy club, basically me and a mate discussing OUP's Very Short Introductions over a cup or glass of something.
This afternoon was VSI Hannah #Arendt part 2 (the first we decided warranted a part 2) over tea and homemade flapjack.

Well, you can Open and Save as MS documents. But the interfaces are different so there will be a learning curve

... and experimenting... Windows-Shift-hyphen (ie underscore on my keyboard) gives you an em-dash!
I'd already set up LibreOffice to autocorrect -- to –, --- to —, and –- to —, but this will be helpful everywhere else 💪

One of my gripes about the old app was that it disappeared all the info if it didn't have internet access, and that doesn't seem to be an issue any more - correct?

Maps: It used to be possible to hide the 6 hours 5 days panel. It takes up a lot of screen real estate, and the swipe-y timeline only needs to label every hour, which would mean the timesteps could be much closer together, and swiping be slicker.
Will there be a cross-app choice of units?
