Dark fantasy with a light touch, crossover YA and adult (the MC is 19!)
A 9-image collage with sepia, brown, gold, and green tones. From left to right: a foggy swamp; the quote "I can't stand the bitter thing I've become;" a mandolin in grayscale; a wrecked sailing ship; a pair of mournful eyes from the painting "The Last Day of Pompeii;" a boy's silhouette against a green forested backdrop as bits of magic or light float away from his hands like fireflies; the quote "I'm almost me again" over a picture of a crown being lowered onto a woman's head; a sepia map topped by a knife, feather, and other instruments; the quote "look who's digging their own grave" over a painting of Renaissance angels flying.

I didn't see the thread, but I absolutely love HH and find you and your creations so inspiring 🥰 There's been such a shift towards people wanting zero loose threads in anything, even with clear hints the threads will continue later. I think those empty spaces are what make stories wonderful.
I wholeheartedly believe that vel picks out outfits for him

Bit of a reverse Black Friday tip. Go buy a book from an independent bookshop. While the richest companies in the world have another bonanza, put a smile on the face of a struggling writer and bookseller. Thank you x

Just a reminder that there’s an app available for your TV called PBS RETRO where you can watch all sorts of wonderful old pbs shows like Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow, you know, in case you might need that sort of energy right now
You’re not violating a reading rule if you opt not to finish a book that's not resonating with you. Life is finite and we thus have a finite number of books to read. Reading shouldn’t be a chore. You needn’t feel guilty for ensuring that your time reading is spent reading things that you love.
“The love of learning, the sequestered nooks,
And all the sweet serenity of books”
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”
-Plato
I'm hyper critical of museums because I work so closely with them, but as spaces where you can go and literally just 'hang out' with ancient history they truly are unique.
Feeling down?
Go sit next to an old pot/fossil/painting.
It won't necessarily solve anything but it's still very grounding.
people ask, “how can I recover my sense of wonder?” take an interest in things. visit art galleries, hit up the library and discover-browse. read widely. learn new languages, new words. watch old films. the world is a wonderful place but wonder is a muscle that must be cultivated like any other.
