Found out that George Plafker, USGS earthquake geologist known for his work after the 1964 Alaska earthquake passed away yesterday at 97. I was able to spend a few days in the field with him after the 2002 Denali EQ, as well as seeing him often at the USGS in Menlo Park. Full of amazing stories.
