Fucking love this guy.
I am grateful for you 🌻
Agreed.
I am America.
My forefathers immigrated here, raised families here, fought in wars, voted, worked, lived, and died for this country. I carry their immigrant blood in my veins, swore my oath to the Constitution, and defend this republic today.
I am America.
“Active Hope is not wishful thinking.
Active Hope is not waiting to be rescued
by the Lone Ranger or by some savior.
Active Hope is waking up to the beauty of life

"This idea that there's some kind of national emergency [on the national forests requiring increased commercial logging] is laughable...It's really more of a pretext to loot our public lands to benefit very, very few people at the expense of all Americans." www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-a...

The border wall between the U.S. and Mexico is, of course, a barrier meant to prevent human migrants from crossing into America as they seek work, family or refuge from violence.
It’s also a significant barrier to ranging wildlife.
Pretty much.

It's been a long week. So here's just a pretty graphic for your Friday evening... Simulation of atmospheric aerosols in our intricate Earth system.

A post from my vault-FWS is a great investment. Value of the Endangered Species Act and success stories:
Bald Eagle
American Alligator
Green sea turtle
Piping plover
Peregrine falcon
Channel Island fox
Humpback whale
Puerto Rican parrot
Robbins’ Cinquefoil
Whooping Crane
Brown Pelican
Cali condor
Wise words from Mr. Rogers. We are all in this together. Let us all renew ourselves to strive for the common good.
Two hummingbirds on a branch facing each other with bills open and wings spread as if in contentious conversation.
I saw these two Fiery-throated Hummingbirds there in 2018! 💚
This literally made me tear up - gentle skies and fair tides to everyone who left today!

The Trump administration proposed a rollback of federal protections for endangered species. A draft rule from the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) seeks to eliminate the current interpretation of “harm” under the Endangered Species Act.
Really enjoyed this piece on living among our nonhuman neighbors by @betsymason.bsky.social "Peaceful coexistence with the wild animals among us might ultimately depend on people shifting their perspective from thinking of them as adversaries or pests to thinking of them as neighbors." 🌎
From salamanders and salmon to bears and mountain lions, David Herasimtschuk's images illustrate not only the beauty of the forests and their creatures but the symbiotic relationships that are vital to the forests’ health and the planet’s welfare.
Another story of a FWS employee who was terminated.
Bianca Sicich isn’t ready to let go of the prairie just yet. It’s the last Friday of Feb and she’s up early to volunteer at the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge west of Houston. This morning, she’s literally counting chickens.
A reminder of the value of the Endangered Species Act, including success stories.

This is going to be a great day for learning about sharing our space with wildlife!
