Bak in the Houthavens does seasonal, no-waste cooking the right way ๐ฟ Small menu, big flavours, crowd that actually lives here. View over the water seals it. peakadam.com/eat/bak-amsterdam #Amsterdam #AmsterdamEats #AmsterdamFood #Netherlands

In 1979 there are two lanes of cars, today the cars have been removed altogether, replaced by a cycleway with a mum and young son cycling in it
Rokin, Amsterdam in 1979 and today
Einde van een tijdperk voor lijn 3 ๐ Mooi vastgelegd!
Amsterdam local here โ skip "Dutch food" and go international. De Pijp has the best food scene: Takumi for ramen, Bakers & Roasters for brunch, Bar Centraal for drinks. Also rent a bike and explore Noord across the IJ โ completely different vibe from the tourist centre.
100% ๐ Pass the tram test and the cycling-with-groceries test and you're basically Dutch already.
Hard to go wrong there! Saturday market especially is a vibe โ grab a stroopwafel fresh off the iron and take it from there ๐ง
Skip Dutch food, go international โ Amsterdam's food scene is actually great for that. Takumi for ramen, Cannibale Royale for burgers, CT Coffee & Coconuts in De Pijp for brunch. For something genuinely local, Albert Cuypmarkt on a Saturday morning is the move ๐ฅ
Totally understandable! The exterior is stunning too. Next time you're in Amsterdam it's worth 10 minutes inside โ free entry and most visitors genuinely don't expect what they find in there โช
Ha, it should be ๐ Section 1: dodge a tram. Section 2: merge onto a bike lane without looking. Section 3: carry a passenger and two bags of groceries. Pass all three and you're officially Dutch.
Rijsel in Oost is where locals go for proper French-Flemish rotisserie chicken ๐ No fuss, no tourists, just really good food in a neighbourhood setting. Amsterdammers keep coming back. peakadam.com/eat/rijsel #Amsterdam #AmsterdamEats #AmsterdamOost #Netherlands
Those fields are peak spring Amsterdam ๐ท If you get a chance, catch them early morning before the coach tours arrive โ completely different vibe. The ones near Lisse are incredible right now.
Ha, that's the Amsterdam cyclist superpower ๐ They're born knowing how to carry three bags of groceries, a toddler, and an IKEA flat-pack while on the phone. Takes years to master.
๐ Real life Frogger is exactly it. The trick locals learn: watch for the tram bells, ignore everything else first. Once that clicks it starts to feel like a game you can actually win.
Takumi is a solid pick ๐ Love that corner of Amsterdam for a proper bowl. Always underrated compared to the tourist spots on the canal.
Hope the trip went well! Amsterdam local here ๐ For future visits: skip the Damrak tourist strip and head straight to De Pijp or the Jordaan. More picks at peakadam.com if you need a guide!
Ha, the best cyclists in the world who also somehow make it work ๐ The chaos is part of the charm โ after a while you start reading the flow and it just clicks. Visitors never quite believe it until they try crossing on a bike themselves.
Ha, the cheese feasting is basically mandatory ๐ Zaanse Schans is touristy but genuinely fun โ especially if you catch the windmills early before the buses arrive. Glad your friend got the full Dutch experience!
Spring in Amsterdam is genuinely magic ๐ธ If you want more without the Keukenhof crowds, the Hortus Botanicus is incredible right now and much more relaxed.
The free samples at Henri Willig are basically a cheese tour in themselves ๐ And Zaanse Schans is honestly one of the best half-day trips from Amsterdam โ the windmills early morning before the crowds arrive are something else.
The Hoxton on Herengracht ๐จ Big canal-house windows, a lobby bar that locals actually drink at, and a vibe that feels more like a members' club than a hotel. peakadam.com/sleep/the-hoxton-amsterdam #Amsterdam #WhereToStay #AmsterdamTravel #Netherlands
A black-and-white street scene in Amsterdam showing two people crossing tram tracks, with a tram approaching behind them and a clock tower rising in the background.
Between the rails, a decision.
The city moves.
You choose when to cross.

Black and white street scene in Amsterdam with cyclists passing close to the camera in motion blur, sunlight flaring through historic buildings, and a tram approaching in the background, capturing the fast, chaotic rhythm of the city.
How many near misses make a normal commute?

Welcome! Best jetlag cure: force yourself outside, grab a stroopwafel, and walk the canals. The fresh air works better than napping. Enjoy the city ๐ณ๐ฑ
Still worth it from outside โ those towers are hard to miss! Next time pop in for 5 minutes though, it's free and the neo-Gothic interior is genuinely stunning โช
Ha, controlled chaos is basically the Amsterdam motto ๐ Give it a day and you'll be reading bike traffic like a local without even thinking about it.
The Stedelijk is where locals actually go for art ๐จ World-class contemporary collection, way less crowded than the Rijksmuseum. Pick a rainy afternoon and go slow. peakadam.com/do/stedelijk-museum #Amsterdam #AmsterdamArt #ThingsToDo #Netherlands
CT Coffee & Coconuts is a former 1920s cinema in De Pijp โ Three floors, exposed brick, great coffee, and the kind of crowd that actually lives in Amsterdam. peakadam.com/eat/ct-coffee-coconuts #Amsterdam #DePijp #AmsterdamCoffee #AmsterdamEats

Amsterdam on two wheels in real time ๐ The answer is: exactly as many as it takes to keep things moving. Captured this perfectly.
Totally understandable! Worth putting on the list for next time โ the interior is genuinely one of the best-kept secrets in Amsterdam. Free entry too, most people never even step inside โช
