I had to share this with her. She said it was "intriguing" and that "the world of haiku is everywhere". 😊
Of course, our exchange was by way of haiku. 😋
This image shows a 1921 Census document from England. The top portion contains typed and handwritten entries, including a name and address. On the right, there is a table with column headers. In the bottom right, there is a close-up of a red wax seal with intricate detailing.
The only wax seal in the 1921 Census? 😮
Engineer Arthur Edward Pettit decided to seal his census return. Can anyone make out the coat of arms?

One of my best friends from law school often swapped haikus when we were in school. We still frequently communicate by haiku. 😆
All the nuns in my tree are Dutch. One was Mother Superior of her order, and she spent time in Indonesia and Finland as part of her work.
Join me as I meander all over the place while purportedly discussing my Great x4 Grandmother, who is on the only branch of my family tree that goes into the Maritimes. #52Ancestors #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

We're here for the BCGS Library Open Research Day and my 11-year-old pulls a book off the shelf. "You might like this book, dad." I forgot I had donated this! #genealogy

Just because it's written in stone doesn't make it true!
Congratulations, @danielloftus.projectinfant.ie, you were fantastic! #Ireland #Census #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
Maybe I'll get around to it.
In this week’s roundup, a nostalgic look at the Ellis Island database, Irish dancers inspired by Annie Moore, a new research tool from the Library of Virginia, Idris Elba’s surprising DNA journey, and more.

Census records are a major source of genealogical information, such as occupations. Look at Mary, who seems to have gotten the jump on a profession usually reserved for people older than 59!
When you fill out the census, be sure to consent to the release of their personal census information after 92 years. Future genealogists will thank you! #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

I hope we get the long form!! #Census2026 #Census
This is an amazing article @jmendelsohn.bsky.social posted on FB, "a master class in how you do good genealogical research". I've fallen into a similar side quest more than once, trying to find the source of the source before accepting a purported fact.

This was shared at tonight's monthly BCGS meeting.
So, I bring news! (and it's a first for me)
On April 18th, when the 1926 #Census is released to the public - I will be going on TV to Virgin Media One's IrelandAM speaking about the 1926 Census at about 10:45am.
I never expected this to happen, but am really looking forward to it! Tune in... 🤗❤️✨

Everyone's looking for royalty and celebrities. I'm looking for rogues and pirates.
With the business of the Easter long weekend, I almost missed out on this week's crème de la crème at Genealogy à la carte.

Christina Koch’s facial profile backlit by Earth in the background, through the spacecraft window
So, to sum up, a couple of days ago Christina Koch became the first woman to see Earth in its entirety, and today – right now, in fact – she is the first woman to see the Moon up close, and the first woman to see the far side. 🥹

One possible origin of my surname is that it comes from "Fluitenkruid", one of the Dutch names for Queen Anne's Lace. Apparently it grew around the polder and windmill built by one of my ancestors.
