Peer review is a fundamental pillar of science, but scientists are short on time. Thus, where you choose to devote your peer-review service matters. Entomologist @morrisonlabusda.bsky.social urges you to prioritize reviewing for journals at @entsocamerica.bsky.social and other scientific societies.

My cat Goliad greeting me as I come home
Coming home to my adoring cats has been the one bright spot in an otherwise bleak week for science and my lab personally #entomology
Morrison Lab photo from circa fall 2024, including nine outstanding women and genderqueer scientists
A very unhappy International Women's Day in Science in the US with a collapsing funding system and thought crimes instituted with so-called banned words. But, I am extremely proud of all the amazing women scientists I have supported over the years and the fact that my lab remains majority female. ๐งช๐ง๐ปโ๐ฌ
Our lab finally optimized a light preference assay for stored product pests. A bright spot for the week. We are very excited to test different wavelengths and intensities! #Farm2Fork #entomology
For those headed to the North Central Branch Meeting of @entsocamerica.bsky.social, please check out the lineup of the talented group in my lab.
Morrison Lab board showing pictures of the lab and many manuscripts from recent years at the Center for Grain and Animal Health Research.
I was finally able to update the #MorrisonLab board in the hallway outside the lab with recent pictures and the newest manuscripts. At the State of the Lab presentation, I relayed that we topped our at 500 citations for the first time in 2023. So proud of this excellent group of professionals!
Lol maybe you should try agave. I literally haven't watered and have ignored it for months and it looks great in my office. Someone even commented on how nice it looks and I said "Not for my lack of trying".
Congrats to #MorrisonLab members PhD Candidate, Sabita Ranabhat on winning 1st place in her session and Dr. Hannah Quellhorst on winning the NCB Comstock Award and ESA Student Activity Award!! #EntSoc23

I was invited for a seminar to #UFL at the Ft Pierce Indian Research and Education Center by Dr. Nicole Quinn and it was a sublime visit. Filled with subtropical flora and fauna, beaches, USDA scientists, and parasitoids, gee gads!
Wanted to give a shout out to #MorrisonLab PhD Candidate Sabita Ranabhat for winning second place at the Borlaug Dialogue in a competition judged by World Food Prize Laureates. Amazing work! #Farm2Fork #LLIN #storedproducts

The #MorrisonLab had a hike to celebrate PhD Candidate Sabita Ranabhat's birthday. It was very festive on what felt to be the first true fall-like day. #labbonding
Spillage sample with mostly wheat and small sprig of green.
Pushing the limits on the amount of green I see in a day as a Stored Product Entomologist with processing spillage samples to look at how the insect community composition varies with landscape elements. #farm2fork
