Set in MLK era of civil rights change, this book doesn’t shy away from what Black women faced. Abortion, bodily autonomy, and LGBTIQ identity weren’t debates - they were survival. It threads these truths into brief defining moment in one woman’s life. #booksky #52weekchallenge #2026readingchallenge

The prompts are a good challenge- leading to exploration of genres that i would not of read or even have known about! Thanks for your feedback 😀
I know right! It's like you need a manual for the book. Too much for me!
The book was a decent read. The mystery kept me curious, even if the character count gets overwhelming. Audiobook listeners: the online character list is a lifesaver.

How is it so far?
Sounds like a great read. I hv added this to my list.
Thanks for this fabulous review. It's now on my list of must reads!
The Turn of the Screw: great vibes, but the “is it ghosts or is she losing it” loop wore thin for me.

A whispered secret triggers a chain reaction that exposes every hidden fault line between three tightly linked families. Fast, dramatic, and full of suburban tension.

A tense, layered thriller built on a well‑seeded conspiracy. What starts as a nanny‑spy assignment grows into a story about identity, danger, and hidden power. Even the domestic moments add pressure and stakes.

Loved this one. Sharp, twisty, and full of reveals I genuinely didn’t see coming. The character development kept me hooked right to the end. A clever, satisfying read.

Hi, I’m Flokey. Species: blue heeler. Identity: human.
If you’re eating, I’m staring.
If you’re chewing, I’m closer.
If you drop it… it was meant for me.

Brushing my teeth this morning - in a daze- when I spotted 'old mate' aka- an Australian Huntsmen Spider, right beside me on the wall- almost the size of my hand. I left him there- to do his thing, head moved on a few hours later... where?

A light, cosy mystery with plenty of charm. Vera is bossy, nosy, and completely unstoppable, and that’s exactly what makes the story fun. The murder plot is gentle rather than gripping, but the humour, food, and found‑family warmth keep it engaging

Steady‑paced and immersive, this story takes its time building the characters and the world they live in. A story of acceptance, resilience and survival, where the class divide fades in the face of disaster, Hurricane Katrina, and nothing is spared.

This one was a slow, sometimes confusing read for me, but I can’t fault the writing. The characters are interesting, and there’s a real sense of craft in how their stories unfold. I didn’t love it, but I appreciated the depth in the character work. #2026ReadingChallenge #BookReview #52weekbookclub
My February reads. Highly recommend The Names, but it comes with a family violence trigger warning. Eat, Slay, Love was surprisingly dark and funny if you are after a fast paced read.
