I am standing outside wearing a knitted hat (pattern is heather beanie) in bulky weight multi colored yarn that is a lot of pinks and blues with purple, red, orange, and green accents. I am also wearing the river path shawl by wool&wyrd in a multicolored yarn that is mostly pink, blue, purple, and white with yellow accents and navy blue stripes.
Finished in time for it to be warm all week this week, but here is my first finished project of 2026 for #showmeyourknits firsts! 🧶 I love the colors, makes me feel bright and cheerful!

The crazy thing was being off in my stitches didn’t show up until chart 4 because chart 2 had a repeat of 10 and chart 3 had a repeat of 20, but then chart 4 was a repeat of 53 🤦🏻♀️ I had a hard time reading the stitch count chart to even figure out what happened. but lesson learned 😅
It started out as the beach daydreams shawl, then another pattern I can’t remember, and now I’m starting the Gadarene shawl by expression fiber arts. I absolutely love this yarn from @badsheepyarn.bsky.social so I want it to be something special!

Light is poor but here is my horror story for #showmeyourknits 🧶 first time knitting with 100% silk and I got through chart 3 of 8 in a very complex lace shawl. My count was off 😭 tinked back, couldn’t fix it, frogged and started a new pattern but I don’t like it. Frogged again. Next time: lifelines

An off-white beanie with multi-colored accents throughout. The pattern is the Arbor beanie, one of my favorites I’ve ever made! It ended up being pretty simple using mosaic techniques rather than stranded.
A cabled baby beanie in white, blue, gray, and black multicolored. Yarn is Arcane Fiber Works for this one. Again no pattern, just a cable that I like and turned into a beanie. I think that I originally came across it in a different style hat pattern a very long time ago but I can’t remember the name 😅

Based on the instructions it looks like you place the stitches on the needles that you had held, then cast on or pick up the 11 stitches before joining into the round. It should complete the circle and line up evenly under the sleeve.
I knew it had a name! I just couldn’t remember it lol 😂
Here’s a picture of what I do, I just pull part of the cable out to make a smaller loop, then knit to that part and pull again. I find it smoother than double pointed needles but everyone has a method that works best for them. So just trial and error until you find what works!
I would say if you’re not comfortable with magic loop then double pointed needles may be your best bet. I usually use circulars and pull out a little loop to make it feel like a smaller cable length. I can’t take a picture right now but maybe tonight after I get the kiddos to bed if you need help.

I love how cute the buttons are! But as a mom with a toddler and a baby, I tend to avoid anything with buttons as it turns into a huge hassle every time 😅 zippers are a definite must for me!
