Unquestionably, major policy changes, edicts and directives handed down by the new Trump administration will upend lives. But I've also been struck by the widespread efforts to erase/whitewash history. Stick with me for a pretty shocking series of events from just the past few weeks.
Keep calling.
It's critical that Congress focuses the fight over the *power* of funding programs not *which* programs to fund.
It is unconstitutional for the executive to not fund a program even if it's not politically costly to the executive to do so
On the other side of #NCTE24 and thinking hard on what we need next. Proposals due in January but our work will shape/be shaped by so much by November 2025. What do we most need to learn, discover and share in that window that we can imagine (and DREAM) now?
I loved what Ada Limon had to say about writer's block in her talk at #NCTE24 today: "It is not so much that you don't have anything to say; it's that you have so much to say."
We have to take time to sort through the overwhelmingness of it all, time to let one good idea at a time shine through.
