Really interesting - Sheffield has a load of wild fig trees along the river due to a unique historical combination of locals liking fig biscuits -> occasional sewer overflows -> industry using river water to cool machinery means the river water was warm enough to germinate undigested fig seeds 😲

Looking across a small lake at sunrise, trees line the opposite banks, and spring flowers are starting to appear on the trees. Behind the lake the view rises up towards the higher moorland tops of the Calder valley. Blue sky and mist in the trees.

Nice out this morning

Thirlmere Reservoir on a sunny day - rich blues of the sky and reflected in the lake , with the valley sides and the mountain Helvellyn reflected in the rippling water

The boat-launch jetties at Keswick, taken in 'the golden hour' with lots of rich golden light back-lighting the scene of the wooden pleasure boat named 'Lady Derwentwater'. Dicks create ripples in the foreground, and the mountains are in silhouette in the distance.

A geometric, carefully composed shot of old jetty poles standing in the lake waters at Derwentwater at Keswick. The vertican poles (and their reflections) creates a repeating pattern horizontally across the bottom half on the shot, contrasting with an array of mountains in silhouette in the distance in the top half of the photo. Taken near sunset on a clear day, so blue skies and blue reflection on the water, but also bathed in golden light.

A shot of a lake, with rippled reflections. Silhouettes of trees on a rocky outcrop in the middle distance protrude from the right of the frame, and at the far distance the lake rises into mountains. Blue skies and strong golden light, with rays of light from the sun starting to set behind the mountains.

A couple of photos from a lovely day out in the #LakeDistrict on Tuesday, it's been raining in the UK for so long I was forgetting what the sun actually looked like πŸ˜…

Lots of families in a town square looking overhead at a 'northern lights' style effect created by using massive smoke-machines (the type used at music gigs) to generate clouds of smoke then firing lots of colourful lasers through it

🚨The Barkley Marathons are just starting!

They're usually March/April so unexpectedly early this year (the campsite is under redevelopment so there's a temporary starting gate πŸ˜…)

If you've not heard of the Barkley's have a Google - and the only way you can 'spectate' is thru Keiths' updates πŸ‘‡

At its peak I went to Japan on holiday and Street pass there was an amazing experience - had to keep stopping and clearing the visitor queue every hour or two walking around tokyo, ended up with over 1000 people over a couple of yearly visits πŸ˜…

A scene of a town municipal park. In the foreground a red warning sign reads "Beware Of Moving Plant", a few meters Infront of a small tree.

Don't we already have enough to be worrying about at the moment? 😬

Rays of light through the wintery mist, light a rural scene of a historic mill, mill-chimney and trees.

Beautiful light in the mist and frost this morning, looking across the valley.

Yeah, plain money-grabbing (tho to be fair the improved rumble was noticeably neat when playing Donkey Kong Bananza)

A full semi-circle of a strong rainbow stretching across a wide-view moorland landscape, with a fainter second rainbow outside of the main rainbow.

A tasty sunday pub lunch further improved with a beautiful double-rainbow outside - half the pub ran outside to take it in

I reckon the most evil thing Nintendo have done is make it so the switch 2 wouldn't power on with the old switch 1 pro controller, necessitating buying the new pro just to keep being able to switch on the console from the sofa 🀬

I haven't had the capacity to keep up with moderation lists for a bit, but this one is really obvious, so I'm stealing some energy from Future Me: a list for the extremely obvious wave of inauthentic accounts following today's newly-created US gov accounts

There's a heartbreaking amount of emboldened hate in Britain at the moment, and this is beautifully put about why all the flags going up are so problematic - everyone knows they're a proxy for racists airing their views rather than actually loving their country.

I'd just worry thinner = more likely to break/bend when you sit down inadvertently with it in your back pocket? Not seen much about it but havent they also announced a magnetic battery pack for it while saying it lasts a full day without it (presumably so long as you don't do much with it)?

I elected to use the credit card check - any time a website wants a photo of me these days my default assumption is they're harvesting biometric face data to ultimately sell to someone 😳 (tho TBF the horse has well and truly bolted thanks to facebook, and part of me wants to know it's guess).

To be fair evri don't usually look the extra instructions I give to our house given we live up a track away from where the centre of our postcode geolocates to (nor try ringing if confused), so I'm guessing all the tips you can leave to help the driver is just theatre :-/
