A landscape view of Derwent Water, Keswick, Cumbria, England on a sunny September afternoon.
A few people are sat on the grass near the lakeshore, relaxing and admiring the view in front of them.
The lake is calm, steel grey in colour, but in places it reflects the blue sky and white fluffy clouds
In the background is the outline of some of the North Western Fells including Catbells and Causey Pike.
The colours of the trees and fells also just starting to change from green to autumnal hues of brown.

Just one shepherd’s hut, tucked away in woodland on a quiet #Cumbrian farm. It’s a place for slow mornings, nearby walks and evenings by the fire, with red squirrels occasionally passing through. #Keswick is 20 minutes away for shopping.

A tranquil Lakeland view at Derwent Water, Keswick, Cumbria, England on an overcast winters day across a grey lake to a mountain landscape.
In the foreground a wooden jetty leads the eye down the perfectly still lake to the mountains in the distance.
The wooden jetty and it's posts and the surrounding scenery are reflected in the calm, still waters of the grey lake.
The scenery in the background includes:
Derwent Island in the centre, the most prominent island on the lake. It is the only inhabited island on the lake and is owned by the National Trust. It is covered in trees with a boathouse and wooden jetty just visible.
The Jaws of Borrowdale in the distance - this is where Borrowdale valley carved by ice, and eroded through thousands of years, is constricted between the steep slopes of Kings How and Castle Crag.
The North Western Fells including Catbells and Causey Pike which has a dusting of snow on its summit.

A close up of a European Robin proudly perched on the branch of a Holly bush.
Taken near the lakeshore on a cold day at Keswick, Cumbria, England.
It is in a side profile, standing upright on the branch and facing to the left of the picture. It has an orange-red face and breast, dark eye, brown cap, upper feathers and tail, and a white-grey body. Brown skinny legs and feet grip around the green tree branch.
Its body feathers are fluffed up against the cold which contributes to its slightly round shape.
The background is full of green Holly leaves, green and brown branches.

The boat-launch jetties at Keswick, taken in 'the golden hour' with lots of rich golden light back-lighting the scene of the wooden pleasure boat named 'Lady Derwentwater'. Dicks create ripples in the foreground, and the mountains are in silhouette in the distance.

A geometric, carefully composed shot of old jetty poles standing in the lake waters at Derwentwater at Keswick. The vertican poles (and their reflections) creates a repeating pattern horizontally across the bottom half on the shot, contrasting with an array of mountains in silhouette in the distance in the top half of the photo. Taken near sunset on a clear day, so blue skies and blue reflection on the water, but also bathed in golden light.

A shot of a lake, with rippled reflections. Silhouettes of trees on a rocky outcrop in the middle distance protrude from the right of the frame, and at the far distance the lake rises into mountains. Blue skies and strong golden light, with rays of light from the sun starting to set behind the mountains.

A couple of photos from a lovely day out in the #LakeDistrict on Tuesday, it's been raining in the UK for so long I was forgetting what the sun actually looked like 😅

Early morning at Derwentwater in January. Blue skies with white fluffy clouds reflected in the calm lake. A thin veil of mist is lifting over the lake. The boat moorings are reflected in the water. Soft light and within 15 minutes the whole of the lake was bathed in glorious winter sunshine.
