Once again, LA politicians showed they aren't serious about solving the housing shortage.

In the Bay, 22 of 30 Assemblymembers voted Yes.

In SoCal, only 17 of 44 voted Yes.

Dems like LA Mayor Karen Bass fought SB 79 while young champions like Asm Sade Elhawary looked to the future.

the era of small government is over and we can either have armed thugs with badges disappearing people or universal health care and high speed rail

It's not clear why Mayor Bass tweeted out this self-portrait of what she thinks about LA Metro—the riders, the pandemic ridership recovery, & Metro's farebox revenue

If I were the mayor of Los Angeles I would simply not declare war on my brand new metro system!

Will Metrolink electrify?
Will Metrolink electrify? YouTube video by Metrolink

Metrolink is STILL claiming electrification is "not feasible" - despite Metrolink electrification being in the State Rail Plan, and required for California High Speed Rail. www.youtube.com/shorts/xkX_E...

Angelanos have to illegally paint their own crosswalks because the state and local Departments of Transportation are perfectly content with killing people. If you asked them right now, the DOT would say this intersection is functioning as intended — meaning its intended function includes killing you

The primary mode for travel in North America is private automobile, which is an order of magnitude more expensive than public transport, but people are obsessed with the idea that the biggest problem we have is the price of public transport and not the quality of it.

The Westside is unaffordable. Allowing for more housing can help Three young Westside elected officials call for urgent action to fix our housing shortage—and make room for the next generation.

"On the Westside, we’ve fallen behind. We’ve created tens of thousands of high-paying jobs, but built far fewer homes. That stagnation, driven by restrictive zoning, has priced out all but the most affluent." www.losangelesblade.com/2025/07/31/t...

A note for advocates: Despite the frequency of transit funding crises, they are not inevitable or “natural.” Starving transit is a political choice, and we must name and shame the elected officials who are allowing it to happen.

Today is the #4thofJuly, the day where we celebrate the birth of...The #PacificElectric Railway!

The PE's first interurban rail line, the Long Beach Line, began service #OTD in 1902 and lasted until April 1961. Most of it was rebuilt in 1990, known today as the Metro (A) Line.

A truly historic day in California: a clean CEQA exemption for environmentally friendly infill housing has just passed the California legislature via the budget bill!

No other way to put it: this is the most transformative positive shift in land use policy in this state of the last 50 years!

I would be interested to see if LA Metro would do an actual study on this. It’s a cool concept!

Leftist environmentalist NIMBYs drive me crazy.

If you believe in transit, you should believe in dense housing. The two go together. Without transit, housing requires too much parking. Without density, rail becomes inefficient.

Sprawl is anti-environmental. Enviros & rail fans should be allies.

It’s a bit dated using a map from a bit ago and it briefly covers the history of LA transit but lacks the nuance about what we’re doing to fix it. Also misses key land use issues.

It's pretty funny that while Melbourne has a level crossing removal program LA might as well have a level crossing creation program

It’s also bad from the K line side, I tried to get there from Fairview heights station and got confused because it’s far. And there’s no signage from the local streets either
