Abuse. Disabled people/PWD are in an abusive relationship with the provinces, and they can’t afford to leave. They depend on the suppressor for the few scraps they do receive.
There is a way out of this abusive relationship.
A reminder that a National Disability Insurance Program #NDIP would NOT be means tested, and be portable across the country. Marry who you want and move anywhere you want in Canada.
And so much more!

Are you okay? There isn’t anything sarcastic in there.
Love the serious note. Keep going with the funny stuff though.
6/The disability is not your fault, then why should you, or your family bear the cost of that disability? That should be a societal cost.
There is simply no good reason not to bring in a National Disability Insurance Program. Demand it from elected officials. Simply put
ITS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!
5/No longer would a family member be forced to quit their career to become part of the welfare state and lose their pensions.
An NDIP would be an economic driver in employment, innovation, export, increased tax base. It would level the field between urban, rural, hard to reach and Indigenous nations
4/What about cost? It’s a non issue when you take into account the savings in systemic costs in healthcare, emergency care, policing, incarceration, mental illness, homelessness, drug abuse - all as a direct result of not providing needed support. Not to mention the cost to humanity.
3/Disability support must include ALL costs as a result of that disability from birth to end of life. This would include home and vehicle modifications, equipment, technology, mental health support, supported housing, skills training, therapies, transportation, special food, medication, etc, etc.
2/It’s also very ableist to assume people with disability/disabled people can’t manage their own affairs in finding their own caregiver, which may very well not be a family member. The first assumption should always be that they can.

1/Paid Caregiving is an absolute must as one of the primary pillars of a National Disability Insurance Program (NDIP), but paid caregiving is far from the only cost.
Disabled? Family of a disabled person? Happy with the disability support you receive? No?
You need to get behind a National Disability Insurance Program. Where support would be based on actual need.

A National Disability Insurance Program #NDIP would support families that have a child born with a lifelong disability from birth to end of life. The child wouldn’t “age out” of services.
All costs associated with a disability would be included (entitlement based), non-means tested and portable.

So not only does a national disability insurance program bring equity to disabled people and their families, it brings Canada into the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability compliance, AND it makes tremendous economic sense.
1/ The Liberal Convention is in April. If you’re a Liberal, you will be voting on policy on February 5th. Vote to bring in a National Disability Insurance Plan. Deloitte Access Economics in Australia found that every dollar spent on the NDIS generated $2.25 in economic activity.
I can't say enough good things about @ericlombardi.ca. Joining @moreneighboursto.bsky.social was one of the best things I had going for me starting in the pandemic and after. It's truly amazing what we have achieved.
Best of luck to Eric, and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for what's to come. 🫡

Refreshing.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition where the nervous system stays stuck in “high alert.”
The brain misreads normal signals as pain, fatigue, and brain fog.
It’s real. It’s constant. And it’s exhausting.

Families and individuals shouldn’t have to shoulder the cost, that should be a societal cost. It saves the country money.
