The Vandercook 0, as originally constructed, actually does "fair" prints in both directions because you are just laying the paper directly on type. In my case, I had a gripper bar installed to improve registration accuracy and etc. Here's a video of how the OG works: youtu.be/CBAGALRyMkQ?...

On type I sometimes use old make readies or prints that have rough inking errors. But thicker stuff on the return accumulates a lot of ink over time and must be swapped out so you start leaving saturated and torn paper on the type.

Gotta put the paper down every tim.e. The roller doesn't adjust. Gives a slight bite to 60-100lb card stock and 200ish lb text weight. So I try to use very thin text weight when returning the register on lino.
