“We Need Your Help:” Dunn Hopes to Rally City Behind Program Near the end of his introductory event on Wednesday, new Cleveland State coach Bob Dunn held up a Horizon League championship ring, which he earned in 2023 as a Vikings assistant. Dunn certainly would have been within his rights to bask in the afterglow of one of the program’s historical high points, but the nature of the jewelry was tangential to the point he was about to make.

While his background as a Northeast Ohioan isn't why Bob Dunn secured Cleveland State's head coaching job, it seems clear that it will help the Vikings double down on building a stronger relationship with their home city. Kyle Rossi has the story.

Clark, Orr Lead Oakland’s Late Rally Past Michigan State In a mid-week game against the Michigan State Spartans, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies baseball team (10-21, 5-7 Horizon) clawed back in the game’s final two innings, besting the Spartans 11-9. Multiple Oakland players had standout performances in this matchup, including Ben Clark and Aidan Orr, who both recorded three RBIs, with Clark scoring the game-winning run and Orr belting two homers.

Today's match-up against Cleary was washed out for Oakland, but Kurt Szymanski has the story from yesterday's upset win against Michigan State. #HLBASE

Dunn Set to Attack Big Job Ahead Bob Dunn didn’t want a job. As an entering freshman at the University of Dayton, his parents gave him a choice: find employment, or become involved with an organization on campus. They didn’t care which, but it had to be one or the other. He chose basketball. On move-in day, he parked himself outside the office of Brian Gregory, then the head coach of the Flyers’ men’s team, waited until Gregory showed up, and talked his way into a student manager role.

Bob Dunn first got into college basketball because he didn't want a job. Ironically, he now has a pretty big job ahead as Cleveland State's new head coach. Kyle Rossi has the details.

Dunn Deal: Cleveland State Hires Former Kielsmeier Assistant to Lead Vikings Cleveland State has tabbed Bob Dunn as the eighth head coach in its women’s basketball history, the university announced on Monday. Dunn replaces Chris Kielsmeier, who departed at the beginning of the month after eight seasons to take over the program at Texas State. However, given that Dunn assisted Kielsmeier on the Vikings’ staff on two separate occasions – 2021-23 and 2024-25 – his hiring is a clear signal that the CSU administration is trying to retain the many successes of the Kielsmeier era, while also moving the program forward.

Cleveland State stuck with what's been working in its new women's basketball coach, by bringing former Vikings assistant Bob Dunn back to Northeast Ohio to lead the program. Kyle Rossi has the story.

Big Innings Lift Milwaukee Past Oakland in Weekend Series Inconsistency plagued the Oakland Golden Grizzlies baseball team (9-21, 5-7 Horizon) this weekend, as costly innings sealed their fate in a series loss to the Milwaukee Panthers at the Oakland Baseball Field. The series loss leaves Oakland tied with Milwaukee for third place in the Horizon League standings, trailing Wright State and Northern Kentucky while remaining ahead of Youngstown State.

Northern Kentucky Secures Series Win Over UNC Greensboro  After falling 12–6 on the road at Tennessee, the Northern Kentucky Norse returned to Bill Aker Baseball Complex for a three‑game home series against UNC Greensboro, taking the opener 14–8, dropping Game 2 by a 17–6 margin, and closing out the weekend with a 4–3 victory to secure the series win. Game One Northern Kentucky wasted no time setting the tone in the series opener, striking first in the bottom of the first inning.

Taking a break from conference play in #HLBASE, Northern Kentucky took two of three games from UNC Greensboro. Ben Miller has the details.

Turn around a one win Purdue Fort Wayne program into a respectable Horizon League team. The problem? Marchesano didn't stop at "respectable". In her short five years as leader of the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons women's basketball team, Marchesano turned Gates Sports Center into a venue that was very hard for opponents to win in and made PFW an annual visitor to the Horizon League Championship tournament in Indianapolis.

Marchesano Moves On, Leaves For Alma Mater Fort Wayne, Indiana - Maria Marchesano has resigned as the Purdue Fort Wayne women's basketball coach to become the next head coach at Butler University. The mutual parting of ways by Butler and former head coach Austin Parkinson immediately sent shockwaves up I-69, and it didn't take long for the Bulldogs to call on one of their alums to turn their program around.

Maria Marchesano transformed Purdue Fort Wayne into a perennial #HLWBB powerhouse. Now, the Butler alum returns to her alma mater as the Bulldogs' new head coach. Isaac Wendel has the story on her tenure with the Mastodons.

YSU Wins Series at Milwaukee, Snaps Eight-Game Skid The Youngstown State Penguins baseball team (5-24, 3-6 Horizon) snapped an eight-game losing streak by winning their first series of the 2026 season after taking two out of three over the Milwaukee Panthers (6-23, 3-6 Horizon) this past weekend at Franklin Field in Franklin, WI. The Penguins swept the Friday doubleheader before the Panthers took the last game of the set on Saturday.
