I also have a long-term goal of being at Solar Today for many years, possibly until I retire.
I am setting career goals today because I have PTO. I plan to seek out more opportunities to do freelance reporting about space travel in the future. For the time being, I am happy with reporting for Supercluster, PCI Journal, and Offsite Builder, as well as managing Solar Today part-time.
Thanks for asking. :) It seems like most journalists seem to seek out the spotlight more than I am doing.
Since I am now writing for PCI Journal, which covers precast/prestressed concrete, I should disclose that I support decarbonization of the concrete production process.
I will be discontinuing writing for Ars Technica for the time being as of this month because I want to write for publications that have less broad circulation.
It's important for news organizations to not bait people based on their identities.

Scientists are studying fermenting beer in space.
Obviously, this is essential to human health and well-being. ;)

While reading about physics this Saturday night instead of going out to a nightclub, I found this story...

Have you checked your #cybersecurity lately?
Journalists conceal information that relates to many different topics, so it's especially important for us to keep an eye on this.

We experienced energy poverty for years when I was in New England. Energy costs are one of the main reasons I live in Wisconsin now.

Paradoxically, mass extinctions can occur suddenly even when the environment changes gradually. Predicting such tipping points is finally possible.
In which Shraddha Chakradhar asks: Can a science journalist freely express opinions on some public policy issues and still report “objectively” on others, such as climate change? 🧪
It's fascinating to hear Janna Levin's vivid descriptions of surprising aspects of space travel. #space #physics

I'm looking for an online course on differential equations - preferably a free one. An explanatory book would work too, if it is well-written. Do you have any recommendations?

I have been taking a break from using X, Bluesky and Mastodon recently because I am having a very busy summer. I am going to start peeking in here more again this weekend.
Seeing what these 2024 #Pulitzer prize winners have done makes me proud to be a #journalist. These are stories with real impact and compassion from a broad array of newsrooms.

I've finally found an automatic transcription tool that has decent cybersecurity. I started using Google Pinpoint today! Using it will increase my average hourly income for freelance articles by $7 per hour by saving around 1 hour of transcription time per article.
Thank you. I enjoyed writing this piece.
It was a pleasure to write this article on a science education project that has involved sending Choctaw heirloom seeds to space. #indigenous #agriculture #environmentaljournalism

Would you be open to having a phone conversation with me about your publication before I pitch?
This spring, I wrote an article about biochemistry for the first time. It's about an experiment that involved launching #proteins into #space to crystallize at a space station. This research is part of an effort to develop drugs to cure certain types of cancer.

I'm browsing through the ASBPE award finalists and the regional winners. There are some knockout graphics featured! Great job, everyone.

These Google News Initiative tools that are being demonstrated at #ISOJ2024 are amazing. I am looking forward to experimenting with Pinpoint.
