Lesser Yellowlegs this morning at Truro River (17th Oct ‘25). Found by Pete Maker on 15th. Nearly sixty have been recorded in Cornwall and Sept / Oct are top months to find one. The Truro river wider area has hosted this species on several previous occasions.

Mad rush to St Gothian for White Rumped Sandpiper after work. Even if the light was fading fast it was worth running for. At point blank range. #cornwallbirding #ukbirds
Thanks.

I doubt another photo is going to help, but will post in hope.
Think thats what has been decided, was just unsure due to the flight period.
@migrantmothuk.bsky.social Help with ID on this moth caught last night in Pendeen Cornwall.
Colliford resservoir: what looks like an adult & 2 juv Buff-breasted Sandpipers were a joy to watch. They accompanied 30+ Ringed Plovers, a young Dunlin & a juv Inland Sanderling.
After a difficult start, the three buff breasted sandpipers finally showed themselves. Definitely one of my favourite waders. #cornwallbirding
Siblyback: is having a good run of waders, with this juv Baird’s Sandpiper, a juv Pectoral Sandpiper, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 7 Common Sands, a few Dunlin and many Ringed plover, 11 Snipe & 4 Ruff. Not even the wind & torrential showers could affect the day!
Nice to meet you, too. Always happy to help other birders. Glad you connected with your own scope.
Early start this morning up to Siblyback reservoir for the Baird's Sandpiper. Thanks to @paulkemp57.bsky.social #cornwallbirding @cbwps.org.uk

Not many moths last night but, very happy with these two. My first Striped Hawkmoth.
Streaked Shearwater has been documented in the North Atlantic for the first time, sparking suggestions that the species could appear in British waters in the future:
First decent sea watch of the year this morning at Pendeen. (25th May).
Highlights were Great Shearwater (my earliest ever), Sooty Shearwater, Euro Stormy, Bonxie and near 40k Manx Shearwater (video below). A Pomarine Skua was seen at Cape Cornwall.
