You may wish to mark the occasion by listening to @michaelspicer.bsky.social reading aloud what I still like to think of as an accurate representation of what goes on in Cambridgeshire
That's a human job - at least for now!
A fascinating new (open access) article by @justrena.bsky.social, looking an unusual group of Iron Age objects from central and northern Ireland whose decoration displays striking similarities with the Pictish symbols.
Love this - the world needs more crocheted nest-materials dispensers!
Sorry to have missed all this the other day - how lovely! I think @julialaite.bsky.social has started a trend.
Paperback of Máel Coluim III book is now available to pre-order from publisher:

My mum did this with her hair when she was having chemo.
The stone engraved with a number of Pictish symbols.
A Pictish carved stone was discovered by archaeologists from the University of Aberdeen in a field at Aberlemno, Angus, #OTD in 2021. It is believed to date from the 5/6thC, and joins six other stones found in the area.
This Friday! Be among the first to hear the latest academic research into the Pictish symbols as a writing system. #MedievalSky
Very excited for this one!
What a wonderful painting - thanks for posting it!
Is it for a job? I'd say someone they've volunteered with during the period (if they have). I'm guessing the asker wants a testimonial as to their good character and maybe also their skills.
Toffsted!!!
Dark walls and jewel colours, I definitely approve.
Worth pointing out that Penryn has been successfully electing Green councillors to Cornwall Council since 2021. We're a very Green town!
A great win, but they were elected to Penryn Town Council, not Cornwall Council.
It's so refreshing to see the Greens winning. I'm proud to say we're ahead of the game here in Penryn, as we elected Green representatives to Cornwall Council in 2021 and 2025.
Facebook post from Cornwall Green Party, announcing the winners of yesterday's by-election for two posts on the town council. It reads: Wow! Mikey Jones and Rachael Ward BOTH elected as new Green Councillors on Penryn Town Council. And they absolutely smashed it, leaving Reform and Labour trailing in (very) distant 3rd and 4th! John Bell, Reform - 240 Nita Owers, Labour - 213 Mikey Jones, Green - 701 Rachael Ward, Green - 665 A strong sign of things to come in Cornwall. Hope is here!'
Love to see this result from the Penryn town council by-election yesterday. Well done Mikey and Rachael! @greenparty.org.uk
Delighted, excited, and more than a little daunted to have been appointed editor (pre-1707) of the Scottish Historical Review. Really looking forward to getting stuck in, and helping ensure that SHR continues to showcase the very best research in the field of Scottish history.
Fantastic to see this experimental archaeological research being funded. I have no doubt it will add to the growing body of evidence, already presented by Victoria Whitworth and Thomas Keyes, that the Book of Kells was made at Portmahomack in Easter Ross. #MedievalSky
Due to the fire on Union Street, the old carriage entrance has been opened up to provide an alternative way into Central Station in Glasgow. This gives a chance to see some of the massive girders which support the station's main concourse.

Attachments! That takes me back. Were you ever on the Everyone Hates Attachments forum? (Have we discussed this before?)
Trying to decipher a profession in 1864 Scottish death register. Col 2, row 3 reads “_____ carpenter”. The same word appears in column 6 for his father’s occupation. I know from other sources he was a millwright, but it doesn’t clearly look like millwright.
Any palaeography experts have suggestions?
Master carpenter, I think?
Got an event coming up at Bath Waterstones with the excellent @avaglassbooks.bsky.social a week on Friday (27th March) if you're into crime and/or murders and/or alt history and/or thrillers www.waterstones.com/events/james...
Another chance to catch Victoria's very convincing argument that the Book of Kells was produced at Portmahomack. Definitely one to attend if you haven't seen her pitch it yet.
