There’s a volunteer camping area so you could camp with other volunteers (the team I’m on also arrive a day early), although this doesn’t help if you want to camp near friends who are not volunteering who arrive later. For help pitching tent ask someone nearby for help, it’s a common situation.
Photo of a white plastic pen with a click top and “Be Grateful” on it in large blue letters
We found this pen with a vaguely threatening aura in the back of a drawer. Neither of us can remember where it came from. There’s no logo or other text anywhere on it. My friend has a similar one that says “Be Kind” and also doesn’t remember where she got it
Oh Rachel, lots of love to you and the whole household 💕 Such a much loved cat ❤️

>> A good tip was to try to make incremental progress each (working) day - even if it is just tidying up a paragraph or sorting out some subheadings. Keep going. I agree with others: either a completed thesis, or perfect thesis.
Sorry you’re having a TOUGH year. As for what kept me going, I had a mantra for the entire period of my PhD studies that the only way I knew I wasn’t going to quit was that I hadn’t quit yet. Eventually lo and behold I was awarded the thing. >>
Oh wow! It does look great. You might enjoy the ink-and-string approach too, which to my mind gives a related effect.
It looks like ink-and-string. Is that how it’s done?
I have also done this. I am an erstwhile statistician and I once saw a Tweet along the lines of “what if we trained an LLM on the Bible” - one of the few sentences that provokes in either context.

Just walked into my office and found a meeting in progress that I wasn't invited to
Let's see if this works on BlueSky… Could someone provide me with the PDF of this article? #icanhazpdf publications.aaahq.org/accounting-r...
If you’re feeling ambitious, schedule them at the same time across the two festivals and do a live linkup on a video call ✝️ (I will be @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social and am up for a meetup) #CofEPeeps

Does anyone not currently being screwed by the British Library's ongoing inability to supply certain electronic resource have access to a PDF of 'The Multitemporal Contemporary: Colson Whitehead's Presents' by Daniel Grausam in Literature and the Global Gontemporary
I read this as “if you don’t X” (as in former Twitter) and thought “odd choice of way to go against the grain”.
A blog post about articulating one’s faith. How do you do it and does it have to be awkward? occamstypewriter.org/erikacule/20...
postcards and book
A reminder that people in the UK can pre-order a signed copy of "Hey, There's Science In This" before March 27. Everyone else (incl UK peeps with ebook preorders) can order a postcard. Both are at this link, and I'll sign them during the livestream. www.buymeacoffee.com/mixture/extras
A copy of "Hey, There's Science In This" shown with a cat in the background. The cat is asleep.
I wrote a book! "Hey, There's Science In This" is a collection of science essays that started out as science blog posts over the years. It's available for pre-order now (more shops rolling out soon) and will be published March 28. Please buy my book :) #scicomm evaamsen.com/HTSIT/
