Photo of a white woman wearing a black can 95 mask and holding a black and brown and white goat that is wearing a multicolored sweater.
I showed up for a staff meeting today and ended up holding a baby goat in a tiny sweater the whole time. I love working at a farm sanctuary. 🥹
2015–2025 have been the hottest 11 years on record, with global temperatures reaching about 1.43 °C above pre-industrial levels. How is this increasing heat—and other shifts in our climate—affecting us?

A worldmap of the spatial distribution of extracted flood events in the Groundsource dataset. The map displays the total number of flood events extracted by the LLM-based pipeline aggregated per grid cell. The data are visualized using a Robinson projection, with event counts represented by a logarithmic color scale. Red points indicate the spatial centroids of reference flood events from the GDACS database.
Excited to announce Groundsource - an open-source dataset of historic flood events! This has easily been one of the coolest projects I've worked on recently!

Reading people. Body language. Knowing how to connect with people totally unlike you and with different backgrounds and beliefs. Defusing tense situations. Gaining trust. High endurance, pain tolerance, and work ethic. Reaction time. Prioritizing order of execution. Anticipating people’s needs. Tons

Are you working with E-OBS data and wondering how they good is the data when compared to purely national datasets, such as the provided in CAMELS? Then check it out this new piece of work recently published in HESS.
The work was a collaboration with Franziska Clerc-Schwarzenbach!
New paper in @science.org !
Where and when did the #multiyear-droughts occur around the world? Have they become more prevailing? We identified over 10,000 such events and found that they have been increasingly occupying the terrestrial land. (1/6)

Smudge the cat with both of his paws all over my keyboard.
Smudge has decided that I have done enough typing for one day. I disagree, but then again I don't have claws.

“The odds are against us, but that’s nothing new. What’s distinctive about our moment is the still fresh memory that we could move from the margins to the center, that our socialism really could be democratic, not just in theory but in practice and at scale.” dissentmagazine.org/article/wher...

Bronze plaque saying "A Letter to the Future. Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as a glacier. In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it. August 2019. 415ppm CO2"
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Dad sent Mom this picture of me looking out the window for her. It appears she went to human cookie stores without me (all human food items are "cookies") ignoring my argument to go. Dad came downstairs because he heard me whimpering for Mom 🥺 Mom returned with snacks 🧐🐾👍 #dogsofbsky #dogsofbluesky
