I completely agree! AI shouldn't replace human teachers & we should fight for more resources. But funding is slow & we found students want to be able to practice over & over which is not feasible in a classroom where many students need to take turns. We concluded that AI should be a supplement only.

📊 Professionals see #networks as insightful for clients & useful in treatment selection, but have concerns re: clients’ ability and own time constraints in learning to interpret output. Professionals who regularly use #eMentalHealth for giving clients questionnaires see more value in networks. (6/7)
🤖 Professionals who are more positive about technology in #mental #healthcare, who are happier with #eMentalHealth, & who use e-mental health in more ways are more interested in using #AI in their practice. They hope that AI will broaden access to care but have concerns about #data privacy. (5/7)

I also had the opportunity to present a poster on a project that my two master thesis students have been working on for the past year. We investigated mental healthcare professionals' attitudes towards #AI and data-driven methods such as network models in #mentalhealthcare. (4/7)

🧑🎓 Students perceive #genAI patient simulator #chatbots as acting like they would expect a real patient to act, and are enthusiastic about the idea of using them to train their clinical skills. At the same time, they want them to supplement, not replace, working with human simulated patients. (3/7)
💬 Meta-analytic evidence shows that practising with #chatbots and #VR are effective means of training #healthcare #communication skills such as #clinicalpsychology intakes, explaining treatment options, and suicide risk assessment. (2/7)

🧵 Last week, I had the pleasure of attending #ESRII2025. I presented a meta-analysis and a feasibility study that I've been working on with @joannemouthaan.bsky.social on improving suicide prevention training in #psychology #education. Some key takeaways: (1/7)

“Cooperation and constructive partnerships are vital, and […] science has the ability not only to advance our understanding of the world but also to bring people together.”
Yes, I am one of those horrible people who submit during the season. New preprint, 1st paper from my #ERCStG DECOMPOSE
www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
The goals of DECOMPOSE are break-down psychological interventions into components, integrate these in a taxonomy and evaluate incremental efficacy
More evidence that "therapists cannot rely on their clinical judgement alone to assess client progress and outcomes and will depend on routine outcome monitoring to detect client deterioration".
Nice to find some fellow suicide prevention researchers!
