Disappointing news from Sutton Park 💔
Stonechat pairs dropped from 6 to just 1 in 5 years largely due to increased dog disturbance.
These birds nest on the ground & are easily disturbed.
🐾 Please keep dogs on leads
🚶 Stick to paths
Small actions = big impact for wildlife😞

Banstead Downs, Surrey: BOC shot of a nomad bee from this afternoon which I think may well be a male of the scarce Nomad signata - any thoughts would be most welcome.
@fifebirdnews.bsky.social I 'm heading down for the Stejneger's today. Any info on best place to look would be appreciated. Cheers Tim
Same here in my part of Stoke on Trent, I've been noticing a steady decline over the last 10 years.
Norbury Park, Surrey: sometimes you just have to admit defeat but still enjoy what comes your way - this Brachyopa hoverfly is beyond my pay-grade to identify down to species and also had me initially fooled into thinking it was a ‘fly’. Still living, learning and enjoying…
I think this is a female Chocolate Mining Bee Andrena scotica; in the garden today. Would you agree?

Came across this "large" springtail in the garden - Orchesella cincta. At least that's what I think it is.

Epsom, Surrey: there seems to be an awful lot of Thale Cress this year, especially on the top of walls (left). Also pictured is this yellow crucifer that has stumped me…

A bumblebee species with a white tail, black abdomen and orange-brown upper body.
I think this is a Tree Bumblebee on my front doorstep this afternoon, but happy to be corrected. #bumblebees
Does anyone have or is anyone aware of any photos or sightings of juvenile/ 2nd calendar year White-billed Divers during Jan-Feb 2026 from E Scotland or NE England? #birdingScotland #NEbirding #rarebirdsUK
Just had a bat flying around outside my place of work. Medium sized, broad wings, flying fairly slow and agile at tree top height. Alighted a few times against the bricks. Can anyone narrow it down to a possible id?
Thanks for the Baird's 👍👏

Dodgy ethics aside, no need to worry about the mandatory biosecurity measures that everyone, including gamebird shoot managers, are supposed to comply with, eh? #AvianFlu
