Grounation was absolutely dominant for about eighteen months in 1975-76, but IIRC correctly then went bust spectacularly

Another shot of Choirokoitia for #HillfortsWednesday. This is the massive outer wall towards the apex of the site
This tune featuring a boxing match between Sir Coxsone and Bunny Lee on the "The Russians Are Coming" rhythm dates from 1968

It also came out on a UK 12" on the Gamble label titled "Here with Me", that sells for quite a bit less than the JA pressing. Other side is Linval T's "Bubble Up"
Circular stone dwellings at Choirokoitia, Cyprus
Well, it's on the side of a hill, and surrounded by a stone wall. Does Choirokoitia in Cyprus count for #HillfortsWednesday?
The Peacock mosaic from the House of Dionysus at Palaepafos, Cyprus for #mosaicmonday
Saint Paul's Pillar, next to the ruins of Panagia Chrysopolitissa, Pafos, Cyprus
For #StandingStoneSunday :
This unremarkable marble upright is, according to legend, the stone to which St Paul was strapped when the residents of Pafos decided that he deserved a good whipping for trying to preach this Christianity nonsense
Keith Poppin was one half of Winston and Robin who cut "Bad Mind Grudgeful" for Coxsone.
How so?
He and a youth named Winston formed a duet called The Robins, and Studio One's legendary accuracy did the rest
Not a group with whom I am familiar but I like that
Chacun a son gout. I have always found him unlistenable.
Breaking news: Serge Gainsbourg couldnae sing
An open air mosaic of a maze pattern with a circular central scene from mythology
The Villa of Theseus, Paphos, for #MosaicMonday
Very few people were his equal in musical ability 😐
Rhythm: The Paragons - "My Satisfaction"
For his hundredth birthday here are the Sonny Bradshaw Seven with "It must be", which I think owes a bit to a well known Phil Ackrill tune

Dean Fraser started out with the SB7 as I recall, and Donny was married to Myrna Hague, who cut some decent tunes at Studio One
"Cool Operator" shirley? It was one of his biggest hits.
The dub cut was released separately on the Heartbeat "Dub Over Dub: 27 Track Dub Extravaganza" compilation in 1996. It's a hard rhythm

Sonia Spence's "In The Dark" LP is almost completely forgotten, but was a pretty decent set, produced by Sonia Pottinger with the Revolutionaries.
The credit on "Skintight" is to "Terrell", which is incorrect. Ther real writer was Clarence Satchell.
That, plus the style of the tune, suggests this might have Lloyd Charmers' fingrprints on it. It's quite like his "Supernatural Thing"

The Mike Dorane tune isn't particularly inspired, and I wouldn't go seeking it out.
A decent Skin Flesh & Bones riddim, but "World Class" is misnamed; not Jah Lloyd at his best.
"Skintight Too Tight" is a decent enough cover of a recent Ohio Players hit. It's their only record (as far as I know)
Im Brooks sounding very like Charles Lloyd there...
Not so. Paul McCartney died in 1966. That's his replicant - former Denny Laine & the Diplomats guitarist Phil Ackrill
The kind of record Nico might have made if she hadn't been a massive racist

Was his 1972 LP "Boothe Unlimited" produced by Lloyd Charmers the first "Showcase" set where the vocal was followed by the version?
