If you want to level-up your training, check out some of the athlete reviews at the link in my bio — and send me a note with your big dreams in running.

I still have a few limited athlete spots left for winter onboarding. This is truly hands-on coaching with unlimited support.

They’re built backward from race day, often assume progress is linear, can’t adapt to your life, and usually aren’t specific to YOUR strengths, weaknesses and fitness. The result is predictable: injuries, burnout, or just plain sub-standard progress.

No matter how well-thought out, a pre-determined training plan just isn’t as effective as your training could be. They are also one of the most common causes of injury in runners.

A human in a blue singlet runs on a track toward the camera. Overlaid is a screen of computer code, symbolizing the rise of AI.

AI running tools like those from Strava, Garmin, Suunto, etc, promise personalization—but they can’t actually personalize, let alone listen, understand context, or care.

Here are a bunch of reasons why 'AI Coaching' is anything but. (Link in bio)

Big crowds, long waits, packed corrals… sound familiar?

If you’ve ever wondered why your training doesn’t always match your race-day results, the size of the race might be part of it.

New post: Why smaller races might be the key to your next PR.

I’m now accepting new athletes. If you want a coach who’s in it with you—through the highs, lows, life stress, schedule changes, and big dreams—well, that’s what I do.

Reach out and let’s talk about what lights you up.
Your why, your goals, your path—YOU matter.

Thanks for being here. 🧵7/7

No pre-written calendars. No rigid or unscientific pace targets. No four-week cookie-cutter plans.

Just smart, sustainable work based on where you are right now—not where you “should” be.

The body doesn’t care about spreadsheets. It cares about stress, recovery, and consistency. 🧵6/7

Whether you have a wild dream or just want help building a habit, I’m here for the long haul.

I don’t coach numbers or spreadsheets—I coach humans. Every #training decision is based not only on your goals, but also on your history, current fitness, and real life. 🧵5/7

My biggest privilege has been helping hundreds of athletes chase wild dreams of their own, build confidence, and fall in love with running.

My coaching philosophy is pretty simple: unconditional support to help you find fulfillment in running and life—whatever that means to you. 🧵4/7

Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with trails, ultras mountains, and adventure… and ended up coaching athletes to do the same.

I’ve won races, broken course records, paced world-class runners, and chased my own wild dreams.

But honestly? 🧵3/7

Most folks following this page probably know who I am—but if not, here’s a quick intro and a bit about how (and why) I coach.

I’m Josh.
I started running as an adult, just hoping to stay healthy and maybe finish a #marathon. 🧵2/7

I’m not just here to build faster runners—I’m here to help people find joy, purpose, and confidence through #running.

This isn’t a sales pitch. It’s a look at what #coaching can be if it’s grounded in science, built on trust, and shaped around YOU. 🧵1/7

A big breakthrough, and second in her age group.

No panic. No mid-race questioning. Just steady effort and belief.

This is what training and racing intelligently can do!
Huge congrats, Laura!

Laura G. just dropped a 3.5-min #halfmarathon PR — and it happened because she trusted herself, not her watch.

The early splits looked fast — she’d never run a sub-7 mile in *any* race. She stayed present & trusted her training.

Six sub-7 miles in one race, after never cracking the barrier before.

#Running training should revolve around YOU — not the other way around.

That’s the core of what I do as a #coach: evolving training around your fitness, stress, schedule, and goals — not just a race date. Research backs this up — adaptive training is more effective and more sustainable.

Specific speedwork and threshold is vital, but your easy runs should be EASY.

If you’re always pushing, you might be stuck in the grey zone — limiting long-term gains and increasing risk.

Build that aerobic system and do your speedwork on another day.

Easy runs aren’t “junk miles” or just “recovery runs.” They’re a core pillar of fitness.

They build adaptations you can’t get from harder efforts — like new capillaries and mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell!).

Sound familiar?
➊ The plan says 10mi; I ran 9.2–I didn't finish the run
➋ No time for the full workout–I should rest, and try tomorrow.
I wrote a post to help–in my profile. Let me know if you’ve felt this!
