Huge story from @willguisbond.com on what could become a foundational technology being developed in secret inside FAA for a future U.S. air traffic control system.

A beautiful #RSD2026 here in Brighton capped with getting some wax signed by the lovely @psbhq.bsky.social chaps!
Now to get them on to debate The First of the Few and the Spitfire track. π
BAFTA really pulling defeat from the jaws lately. So many self-inflicted wounds. Really disappointing as a member.
It was a lot of fun catching up with James Holland with @alexchurchill.bsky.social about his new book about the Marshall Plan and more.
Out now for @15minutebook.club Patreon People who, as always, get 15 minutes Extra Time.

You sir, are in a minority, which I think you would approve of, but I pity. π
PS all spy series, including Le Carre, are profoundly stupid, which is why they are fun to read and adapt. Slow Horses just takes the inherent silliness of the genre and turns it up to 11. The really interesting bits come in Lamb and Cartwright Sr's backstories which are peppered through the show.

Following the 1980 US Presidential Election, the B-1 received a remarkable reprieve as Ronald Reagan revived the program with an order for 100 aircraft.
The B-1's resurrection was complete, but the road ahead was bumpy. Join us for part 3 of The B-1 Story.

morning took this photo showing that more than 1000 buildings were completely destroyed with the bombing impacting some 98% of the city infrastructure.

The RAF bombed Potsdam Old Town, a deliberate act to unsettle the civilian population as the Allies drew nearer to Berlin. Some 490 Lancasters dropped 1,700 tonnes of bombs, killing 1,593 residents and leaving another 60,000 homeless.

I know from experience that leaving Substack has a cost. No other platform is as *easy* to get up and running, any time you change platforms, you're going to get significant churn. But, my friends who are on Substack--I don't think it will get easier to leave, might as well do it now.
Bunnahabhainn doesn't peat smoke during the toasting process and then they use sherry casks as opposed to the more regular Islay bourbon and port casks.
As such it's a very different dram with that same Islay nod you expect.
Their 1992 PX Finish whisky is one of the finest I've ever had.
Unpeated.
My goodness, Bunnahabhainn is a fabulous place! Wonderful location, fantastic staff and a product to die for. If you're on Islay, the only distillery that is non-smoke forward is well worth a visit.
And I was the designated driver too! π
So nice to be able to see Laphroaig from your Airbnb. Should be stopping in soon, Bunnahabhainn today!
Cover of a book Travels Through the Spanish Civil War by Nick Lloyd. The top of the cover is black with the title and the author. On the bottom there is a black and white picture taken from a riding car on a dusty road. The car is clearly going the opposite way then dozens of soldiers on horses, that are on both sides of the road.
Inspired by lost of the far-right in Hungary and increasing better weather, I'm finally going on a trip. Travels Through the Spanish Civil War by @spaincivilwartours.bsky.social were on my list for far too long and I cannot wait to dig in what I'm convinced will be a literary feast. Time for hope.

Current reading up here in Oban prior to our first distillery tour of the holiday, Murder Bimbo by Rebecca Novack.
A sex work kills a ultra-right wing presidential candidate and takes to email to explain herself. Or does she?
Loving it so far, hopefully we'll get Rebecca on show! - Boney

Confirmation bias is a thing, ain't it?
Highly recommended so far, excited to see if it sticks the landing.
