Got a sweet #solar and battery setup. After spending a lot of time looking at consumption graphs on #HomeAssisistant and changing daily habits… we’re having the first 100% off grid day!!! 🥳
@reckless.bsky.social I’ve been waiting for someone to fix the browser back button working on dismissing article comments since the day verge’s redesign went live. 🙌🏽 congrats to the engineer who resolved that jira ticket.
Went on @pablo.show to discuss the TikTok ban and my general discomfort with the reality that so much of news—and how society feels about many things!—is determined not by facts, but an algorithm.

Too much political commentary no matter where I go on the internet. So here’s a picture from my backyard. Blue skies, 🐦 and a happy jacaranda.
We probably need to stop using the floppy disk icon for “save” actions. Not sure #kidsthesedays know what that is anymore… #ux
Good holiday fun — EXIT advent calendar #boardgame — a puzzle a day for 24 days! Some rooms are quite challenging. Apparently I’m on the beginner box 🥹.
My fav was “let’s abstract that one more time”. I just wrote about this… on how people squint their eyes and say “those things seem similar” for very different domain areas or features. They go on to create spaghetti that’s hard to understand. dinethmendis.com/blog/enterpr... #programming #code
Really good one for programmers out there from @stevesi.bsky.social about concepts that sound good but very challenging to get working in reality — hardcoresoftware.learningbyshipping.com/p/225-system...
When I lived in 🇸🇬 as a kid, ppl could definitely afford software (OEM Windows was cheap). It was just as easy to walk to the market for a pirated CD. What that meant was kids bought all kinds of expensive apps like Photoshop for $5. It was almost-free IT education, raising the bar for the country.
The way some of the details are revealed makes more sense in the books, adding to believability. I am finding the show really engaging and exciting in a way the books weren’t at times. Writers did a good job with some of the new subplots introduced to shortcut the story, while adding to action!
Curious if people prefer #Silo storyline in the books or #TVShow…? They are quite different! #AppleTV+
I have 3 trees! Two regular ones with pink flowers and this black one. They are some of my favourite trees in the yard!
They definitely aren’t all journalists or have to follow the standards. However, there is a problem of attaching their branding/message to what pays the bills (which is the problem being highlighted I think). Definitely tougher distinction to make for a solo creator though.
This week, I wrote about how you have to make a different set of trade offs when writing software at a large company. Delivery is hard when there’s a lot of people involved. #Software #architecture has to take that to account! dinethmendis.com/blog/enterpr... #enterprise
Playing with animations on #ProcreateDreams… fun!

I always followed the principles of drive: mastery, #autonomy and purpose as the basis for running teams. One of my recent learnings has been that these things are much harder to reach for if there isn’t a good base level of #discipline in our #execution. Get the basics right first.
