Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Petals&Perches any bird with flowers in capture.

When I think of birds and flowers raptors generally don't come to mind but here's a Striated Caracara perched in a thicket of gorse. From the Falkland Islands where the raptor is native but the gorse introduced. 🪶

First time I've seen the flower. Does it draw in any hummingbirds?

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ComeEatWithMe, birds who have food in their beaks.

This Glaucous-winged Gull hit the jackpot by coming up with a mouthful of salmon roe. The gulls were grabbing what they could from a foraging sea lion and somehow this one got the choice part. Valdez #Alaska 🪶

I couldn't think of a true ABCD bird with all the letters so I had to improvise!

The #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ABCD, let’s do this, any bird beginning any part of their name with these letters. Extra points for a set using all.

How about the Amazonian Black-capped Donacobius? OK, I made up the Amazonian part of the name but that's where they live. #Peru 🪶

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #DucksOutOfWater (but not flying)

These are South Georgia Pintails inspecting the intertidal for tasty morsels. Once their numbers were diminished due to rat predation but they bounced back after a successful rodent eradication program. Where else, South Georgia!🪶

The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #FeederFriends birds you might see at your feeder. They do not have to be on a feeder.

The most friendly or the feeder crowd in my yard. Some of the Steller's Jays bypass the feeder and come direct to me or tap on the window to get my attention. Anchorage #Alaska 🪶

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #HeadShots, any head shot will do.

Cormorants know how to do eyes. This is the spectacular Imperial Cormorant, one of the aptly named blue-eyed shags. Form the Falkland Islands. 🪶🦑

Good morning. The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #LeafandLight any bird captured in sunlight with leaves in frame.

Canada Goslings greeting the morning sun with dew still on the grass leaves. No goslings here yet, this brood was from last stping in #Nevada. 🪶

If memory serves me right there were about 35 ducklings in the group. No doubt a creche formed of multiple broods.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Reflections, any bird reflection.

I'm going to take that "reflections" as being plural because there must be 15 or so bird reflections in this shot of a Greater Scaup and part of her brood hurrying out of my path in Anchorage #Alaska 🪶

The #BirdOfTheDay theme today is #JKLMNOP , any bird that has any of these letters at the beginning of their first or second names.

I'll take a P for Two-banded Plover. Hmm, that's on the 3rd name so I may be disqualified. This fine example was foraging in the intertidal of the Falkland Islands. 🪶

Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social has said today's
#BirdOfTheDay theme is #LongNecks, birds with long necks

This Red-throated Loon (Diver for the moderators) is nothing but neck. This guy's patch is still frozen but melt is in progress. Anchorage #Alaska 🪶

Indeed they can be intimidating near their nests. None that I monitored last year were very aggressive (fortunately).
