TaxonWorks is a pretty complicated platform, but has some great tools once you get the hang of it.
Excited to announce the imminent publication of the new Crayfishes Guide for Canada !
The second paper of the year and an important piece of the puzzle for the conservation of the Hardin crayfish and its federal review process. While we come away with more questions than answers for this paper, we continue to move conservation efforts forward.

Interested in the marbled crayfish (Procambarus virginalis) and its invasion potential?
Have a look at our recently published biological synopsis, led by @vanmierlo.bsky.social

Of course, happy to help! :)
Female! The structure I circled is the annulus ventralis, which is the female reproductive structure.

New Issues of Freshwater Crayfish is out. Has an article by yours truly and B. Schryer on the invasive WRCrays.
Get excited! NEXT IAA is in New Orleans and registration is open www.iaa25.com

After 4+ years of work, our article on Austropotamobius is out! We traced their 30-million-year journey across Europe, discovered hidden lineages, and finally solved some long-standing evolutionary puzzles.
The key highlight? A. bihariensis from the Apuseni Mts: a small crayfish with a big story.
The Taxonomic Distinctiveness Hypothesis (Ricciardi & Atkinson 2004) predicts that invaders with no relatives in an area will have the largest ecological impacts.
We found evidence of this for various aquatic systems. It is also supported by terrestrial studies. Eco-evolutionary context matters!

At #EOU2025 @eounion.bsky.social conference next week, we'll show new evidence implicating forestry in declines of British Marsh Tits during the era of woodland conversion in 1950/60s-1980s.
This was period of steepest decline in Marsh Tits. Why? What was going on back then? #ornithology 1/5

A single orange Queen butterfly sits dead center of the photo, sitting on a single outstretched flower at an angle from another series of stems that run mostly the opposite way diagonally. Background is blurry greens, yellows, and whites with a hint of a white fence. Photo is very grainy.
Good morning everyone!
Here's a happy little butterfly #scape for #FlowersOnFriday π¦π
Hope you have a great weekend ahead π
