It was more about suppressing competition. Imagine German compenies would have been allowed to build and export aircraft, engines, and armor earlier, and would have made claims on the stolen IP.

Nature would have had to invent an axial or radial bearing and an idea how to route nerves and blood vessels across it.
Some creatures do roll downhill, shaping as a ball.
Stupid feat anyway, the requirements clearly call for a wheeled concept. 🤓
Aujourd'hui, le sergent-chef Florian Montorio est mort pour la France dans le cadre de l'opération DAMAN, engagement français au sein de la Force intérimaire des Nations-Unies au Liban.
Is there a need?
A tiny Tornado in german marine livery next to a Vallejo paint bottle
Top view of Tiny Tornado. I went a bit overboard with the shading but I had to try out my new airbrush. I kind of like the bit stylized „video game“ look. Maybe not realistic but interesting looking xP

Belly. I decided to leave it as is without much weathering
Calling Tiny Tornado 2 done!
Had a bit of trouble at the end but overall turned out to be a nice little plane (if you don’t look too closely 😂)

What color is that?
As an aside, it’s said that the Tigercat was originally intended to be called Tomcat, a name later taken by Grumman’s F-14. This footage from the late 1990s shows the two aircraft flying in formation, later joined by a Bearcat and Hellcat. Quite a show!

An early Victor in blue is definitely tempting! Such an iconic shape.
Looks close to FS35450 Air Superiority Blue. Imagine an early F-15A right next to it.

The Voith-Schneider propeller, works great in water, but is mechanically unsuited for the high RPM required to generate thrust in a low-viscosity medium.
The question is, why revisit the concept when it has been tried and proven to have little practicality.
Why?
Box art for the 1/72 Fine Molds F-104G Marineflieger
Fine molds really made my day: not only is there a new F-4G Wild Weasel in the pipeline, but also the F-104G German Starfighter! Both 1/72.

What helps me in such cases are these scrapers, which maintain the raduis while evening out the seam. Takes a bit of care with conical parts like gun barrels, but it works.
I prefer the thick-plate ones, like the left one from Japan.
The trained eye will see far too much aircraft around whatever number of seats may fit into that pencil fuselage.
They were grilled at AIAA SciTech in Orlando a few years ago. The concept is based on the inappropriate application of oversimplified semi-empiric methods from an academic textbook.
Definitely not shake‘n‘bake, but its fun to build, as there‘s nothing that could be „ruined“. It’s a challenge that tests every tool and skill one may (or may not yet) have.

Cool!
Indeed! That‘s exactly what caught my eye.
Looks great allround, and the metal tracks really make a difference. 👍

Port side of Super Lynx Mk 88A (aka Sea Lynx) 83+02 in its 2026 farewell scheme
...this golden side shows a tiger scheme. A red stripe dividing both schemes completes the flag.
For some reason, this side does make me think of the lucky-cat-with-waving-paw that can be found in many asian restaurants :-) Which side do you prefer? (2/2)
