I'm just a poet, encouraging teachers to include #VerseNovels in their #PoetryMonth!
You can find history, science, and math in this past year's #MiddleGrade novel-in-verse list. And more in 2026 verse novels!

I'm honored to receive a review from one of my favorite children's book reviewers. She managed to get to the heart of the story & stay spoiler free.

Happy #Maja Day! I’m marking this #Swedish Name Day with the story of how a tiny bit of info about my six times great grandma connects to my #timetravel novel. (Pictured calendar is Sverigealmanckan 2026) #middlegradenovel #TimeTravelAuthors #genealogy. karinfisher-golton.com/2026/02/28/h...

November 2025 Time Travel Authors prompts. Today's is: 25. Shopping in your story.
Book cover with title "The Clock and the Boulder" and author name "Karin Fisher-Golton." In a forest, a girl in a long-sleeved tie-dye shirt and sweatpants is peeking around the side of a large boulder. On the other side a girl in old-fashioned clothing holds up her hands. Both girls look startled.
#TimeTravelAuthors 11/25: No shopping in my book, but when 21st century Kerstin mentions that her family mostly buys food in stores, #18thcentury farm girl Maja says, “I do not think I would like having to depend on people outside my family for food.” #MiddleGradeNovel #Sweden #genealogy #TimeTravel
They're great! I love how you bring elements of the month into the prompts. This image has an extra vertical line in #25.
Here's a wonderful list of #picturebooks for a deeper understanding of #Thanksgiving, good topics for discussion, and just the pleasure of good books. Some of these I'm very familiar with and others are going right onto my to-read list. www.pbssocal.org/education/mo... #gratitude

#TimeTravelAuthors 11/19. What makes a time traveler grateful? “I slip [on the leather shoes] and take a few soft, comfy steps. What a relief! Not only were the wooden shoes awkward, but they weren’t doing much for my sore feet. ‘Thank you!’ I say.” #18thCentury #Sweden #middlegradenovel #genealogy

#TimeTravelAuthors 11/9 (Strangest research I did for my story): I crawled around the floor of my office on one hand and two legs to see what it would be like to crawl through a tunnel cut in shrubbery while holding up a skirt. #18thCentury #Sweden #middlegradenovel #friendshipstories #genealogy

List of # Time Travel Authors prompts of November 2025. Today's prompt is "3. What would your characters do if they could travel forward in time?"
#TimeTravelAuthors 11/3: Protagonist Kerstin would not want to time travel again. She is happy to be home and knows the risks! But Maja, the girl she met in #18thcentury rural #Sweden, would embrace exploring every invention and getting to know all kinds of people. #MiddleGradeNovel #genealogy
It looks fun. THANK you!

Here is the end of the story about the local 73-year-old who was taken by ICE. It is a story of horrible mistreatment and disorganization. At least she is safe in India, but her community and family here have been separated from her. www.berkeleyside.org/2025/09/25/h...
@readyourworld.bsky.social, a nonprofit I support as a volunteer and Board member, is raising money to get banned and challenged #children'sbooks into the hands of kids for #BannedBookWeek (Oct. 5-11). Small donations are greatly appreciated and truly help fight censorship! givebutter.com/A0kcqA
I found this birding book along the side of the road on the Tamiami trail in the Everglades on 8/25/25. It is so well loved with sightings going back decades. If you're a birder (I am not) please spread the word and hep me find the owner so they can be reunited
Today, I spoke at @jayapal.house.gov’s immigration shadow hearing about Harjit Kaur, a 73-year-old grandmother detained last week— one of countless families ripped apart by this cruel administration.
Republicans know the pain caused by ICE and Trump, but lack the courage to hold them accountable.
This kicks ass. Imagine walking around and seeing these up everywhere in shop windows. Imagine folks starting to question why some businesses have them and others don't. This is what building community wide defiance looks like. It's not everything, but it's something. And it's something you can do!
