Something fitting about a party which has spent this term trashing Wellington at every opportunity being consumed today with internecine dramas, indifferent the city's attempts to dig itself out from a disaster.
77mm in one hour in Berhampore. That’s just an incomprehensible rain intensity anywhere at any time, let alone in Wellington in Autumn. We used to use 7mm an hour as a threshold for “heavy rain”, and this was more than 10 times that.
Now I feel bad for moaning about my run when it turns out we were in for flash floods and cars floating in the hospital parking lot. We are ok! Road is a bit of a mess though.
Calling it done and going back to the gym for a Sauna was my second favourite part of the day.
I did 12k treadmill + 12k getting drenched. Some moody boats to see.
A woman in a big puffer jacket waited with me at some traffic lights. “Do we even live in the same city?” she said, pointing at my shorts. “I’ve made some bad choices today” I said. Then we both cackled. #running
The hourly forecast shows zero rain.

I think… maybe… the folks at the metservice are as over it as we all are.
Checked the forecast. Ate my breakfast.Taped my bung shin. Put on all the creams and sunscreens. Packed my gels and snacks. Mixed my practice sports drink. Put in my contact lenses.

… and now I’m dwelling on what kind of luck I’ve spent or lost. And it’s only 9am.
I slept through my alarm and missed a run this morning. Got a call halfway to work from the power guy saying he’d arrived to upgrade our meter (I forgot about him). Now, waiting for the power guy to finish,
a message from a stranger saying he found my debit card and license out on the pavement.

im reading bleak house and they just got to the house and guess what. its really nice. so what the fuck
24k today with some pace pickups to 10k pace. And a bit where I got lost in a porta-loo maze on the waterfront where they were tearing down the music festival. Fun!
Now I just have a wedding and then the MountainGoats gig. I sure have made some choices! #running

My sister looked at her HM training plan and said she couldn’t imagine getting through a 10k. So today we ran (her first ever) 10k together. Well we ran to parkrun, did parkrun, then ran home. It was more like 11k and we chatted so much it felt like a 5. #parkrun #running

Went for a 10k around the coast in my new running belt! So easy to nip my phone out for a photo. Came home and stretched with my new BFF Ash (❤️ runbetterwithash). Days off are amazing.
