Grasshopper Warbler, in the Clifton area this morning. 8 Ringed Plover & Dunlin at Clifton Pits, also Lesser Scaup pair and Common Sandpiper.
That’s a good morning Dan, makes up for some of those mornings when you hike up there and don’t see very much.
Male Goldeneye and Jack Snipe at Ryall Court Pits late afternoon today, also LRP, 3 Redshank, Green Sand., 14+ Snipe, 3 Oystercatcher, 4 Lapwing, 65 Tufted Duck, 20 Wigeon, 8 Shoveler, 5 Gadwall, 12 Shelduck, 5 Teal and a Stonechat.
A pair of Lesser Scaup at Clifton Pits this morning was a site 1st and a great birthday treat, many thanks to Andy for the call. Also male Ring-necked Duck and over 60 Pochard. @andywarr.bsky.social
Great to catch up with the Richardson’s Cackling Goose (half way up banking) with 19 Canada Goose at Ryall Court Pits (RCP) late afternoon and still present at dusk. Also a male Goldeneye. Both species new for the site this year but had eluded me at RCP on their previous visits.

A decent morning birding in south Worcs, 17 Golden Plover with Lapwing at Longdon North Marsh, also Yellowhammer & 10 Shelduck (SU). 38 SU at Ryall Court Pits was a notable count. At Clifton a Curlew flew through & 3 Red Crested Pochard still present, also 34+ Pochard & 30 SU, making 68 SU in total.

Bar-Tailed Godwit at Ryall Court Pits, late this afternoon in fading light. Also Jack Snipe, 17 Shelduck and a single Pochard.
That India list is growing.
3 winter plumage Turnstone on the west shore of Clifton main pit this afternoon. Totally unexpected for Worcestershire in January.
Highlights of this morning’s WeBS count at Clifton; 16 Shelduck, 8 Pintail, 4 Pochard, 107 Tufted Duck, 40 Gadwall, 3 Oystercatcher and Green Sandpiper. No Shoveler and lower than expected numbers of Wigeon & Teal suggest that birds are elsewhere on flood water.

Slavonian Grebe still on the Upton Ham flood waters today, present now for 6 days. Also 2 Pintail, 7 Pochard, 31 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebe, Wigeon and a gull roost.
Barnacle Goose among the Greylag flock the best on offer for this mornings WeBS count (day late) at Clifton. Best of the rest, 2 Shelduck, no more than 100 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 16 Teal, 8 Tufted Duck, 1 Shoveler a single Stonechat & circa 150 Stock Dove using set aside to the south

Great Northern Diver showed well at Ripple Pits this afternoon still on the south lake. Also Pintail, 2 Great Egret & Peregrine.
Highlights of Clifton WeBS count this morning, Ring-necked Duck still present, Goldeneye on north pit, 6 Pochard, Great & Little Egret, Green Sandpiper & 2 Yellowhammer. Also 276 GJ, 110 CG, 212 WN, 21 TU, 10 SV, 32 T.,1 SU, 60 MA, 6 GA, 23 L. & 1 EG.
2 Glossy Ibis left Ripple Pits this morning at 7.25 heading north west, also Red-crested Pochard, Great Egret and Common Sandpiper. Eclipse male Ring-necked Duck still at Clifton on main pit. #worcsbirding
Clifton Pits WeBS count late morning and early afternoon. 253 Cormorant is a significant count, 11 Little Egret, 1 Shelduck, 28 GG, 7 LG, T.31, SV 12, TU 55, WN 41, Snipe, Kingfisher, Peregrine and 3 Yellowhammer.

Obliging Wheatear at Clifton Pits this afternoon, also Great Egret, 6 Little Egret and 195 Cormorant.

Long-tailed Duck still on Clifton north pit this morning, also a late Redstart on the west side of main pit. Sadly found the Marsh Harrier dead on Ashmoor Common, a Whinchat there loosely associating with a couple of Stonechat was more positive.
Great patch record Dan, reward for number of visits and hours you put in there. Thanks for the message, shame that it head back to Grimley 5 minutes before I got there. Good to catch up with you.
Curlew Sandpiper still present this morning at Ripple Pits, south pit, east shore. Also Ringed Plover through, Green Sandpiper, 2+ Common Sandpiper and Hobby.
Pleased with my 1st Clifton WeBS count this morning. 18 Black Tern’s and a fly through Spotted Redshank were the obvious highlights. Also singles of Pintail, Mandarin, Barnacle Goose & Common Gull and CG354, GJ232, EG37, MA278, GA10, SV20, T.11, TU82, ET2 & CO119.
