That's £1.6bn profit that went to investors and hedge funds, not to training more nurses and doctors, or investing in crumbling infrastructure, or sorting out corridor care.

This ad from the International Committee of the Red Cross is a powerful reminder of the real human stories occurring in warzones across the world.
The targeting of healthcare workers and hospitals is a war crime.

We could've phased out fossil fuels the gradual, smart and painless way starting in the 1990s
The fossil fuel industry decided we have to do it the painful, unfair and cruel way instead. because that gave them an extra few decades of super-profits

Sagala nailed her newborn's debut! After giving birth, she headed to our Voi stockades. The orphans gathered round, trunks outstretched towards their tiny 'cousin.' Sagala is now living wild, she remains deeply boned to the people who raised her for the better part of a decade. swt.bio/sagala

I came to this country as a child refugee. No English, no certainty, no idea what my life could become. Britain gave me refuge.

Voters want both: homes built and wildlife protected.
MPs should listen to the public, not a false "nature vs growth" narrative.
If nature loses at this stage, it will be because they chose not to protect it.
Tell your MP to back nature: action.rspb.org.uk/page/180990/... 📢
It is really getting harder and harder to glibly dismiss the data centre driven growth of demand in the US, which is causing coal growth domestically and impacting the entire planet's emissions
Yes you can present it with a huge denominator to make it look small but that doesn't change the dynamics

This is disastrous on multiple levels. We already have a high level of mistrust & people opting out of sharing will hit medical research so hard. I’d also hesitate to encourage people to share their protected characteristics data to monitor equality & diversity because of the plausibility of misuse.
What if pain isn’t just something to treat, but something we can learn from?
Our new blog looks at how rethinking pain - and working with people, not on them – could strengthen prevention and person-centred care.

MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS IN CHILDHOOD How the Paediatrician Can Help Dr Nigel Speight MA, MB, BChir, FRCP, FRCPCH I am a paediatrician based in County Durham who has seen approxi- mately 200 children with ME in my local area over the last 20 years, as well as a further c2000 from outside the area. Most of my cases are teenagers but I have a handful of quite severe cases in the 5-10 age group. I have seen two cases where the onset appeared to be before the age of two. Research has consistently shown that ME, also (misleadingly) referred to as ‘chronic fatigue syndrome’, has a major negative impact on the quality of life of patients young and old. By making a diagnosis and offering appropriate management and support we can improve the quality of life of young ME patients. ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ Importance of Diagnosis First and foremost it is important to positively establish an accurate di- agnosis. It is vital that a proper history is taken and that sufficient time is allocated for this task. Only then will the distinctive clinical picture that permits a positive diagnosis of ME be uncovered. The commonest reason for missing the diagnosis is to concentrate on one symptom on- ly, or to take an incomplete history. Clear and simple guidance on diagnosis is set out in the 2021 NICE Guideline: https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/NG206 While ‘fatigue’ is commonly accepted as a key symptom, what ME pa- tients experience is better described as reduced energy levels, to- gether with ‘fatiguability’. All symptoms can be made worse by physical exertion and mental effort can also make physical symptoms worse. When physically depleted pa- tients will notice their mental faculties deteriorate, and they can be- come confused and forgetful. NICE have recognised Post Exertional Malaise (PEM), also described as Post Exertional Symptom Exacerbation (PESE), as a cardinal feature of the condition. It is also recognised that patients experience deterioration after exposure to sensory stimulus …

For rehab of mid-portion AT contraction intensity appears to be key. With insertional AT dorsiflexion range may play a more prominent role. We still want to load progressively but we often start out of painful, dorsiflexed positions.
