Deforestation is never 'just trees'.
Itโs half a million lives lost in 20 years because we stripped away natureโs cooling system.
We don't just need nature. We ARE nature.

Breeding evidence codes for confirming breeding in birds
As mentioned in yesterdayโs video, now is a great time for upgrading possible and probable breeding records to confirmed. Hereโs a crib sheet of the breeding evidence to look for.

We are deeply concerned to read todayโs Marine Strategy Update which reports that 13 of the 15 indicators of Good Environmental Status across our waters are being missed.
What more proof is needed that our governments are failing to protect and restore our seas and that urgent action is vital.
Parliament will debate this petition on 30 June 2025.

If 70% of UK land is farmed, how can you restore nature without funding nature-friendly farming? A digitally created quiz show-style graphic titled Nature or No Nature. Rachel Reeves stands at a glowing blue podium labelled with her name and the show title. Behind her, the screen reads: โIf 70% of UK land is farmed, how can you restore nature without funding nature-friendly farming?โ The design mimics a high-stakes TV quiz show, spotlighting the question with dramatic lighting and a sci-fi style blue backdrop to heighten the pressure.
Welcome back to Nature or No Nature!
Rachel Reeves, your own experts say nature-friendly farming is vital for our food security, wildlife, & climate.
Yet we hear you're set to slash the very funding it relies on.
With the clock ticking, and our future to play for, can you answer this question...
This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.
Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. ๐
Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace.
You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

Fantastic to see this lovely pair of Garganey at Stoke Lake today.
Always a tricky one to get, but better when a few miles away from home.

๐จ 620,000 songbirds were illegally trapped and killed in Cyprus in autumn 2024 alone.
A new report by @birdlifecyprus.bsky.social reveals mist net trapping is on the rise in the Republic of Cyprus, driven by organised trappers.
Action is needed now.

You see , Glenn Massacre (@mrhenrymorris.bsky.social) , Food Safety Czar for the driven grouse shooting industry , thinks itโs ok that toxic lead kills 100,000 waterbirds each year in the UK through accidental ingestion .

A future alive with buzzing hedgerows, singing Skylarks, and rich, healthy soil or one of silent fields, struggling farms, and nature in freefall?

Thursley Common - Itโs that time of the year folks, from 1st March we are now insisting on dogs on leads and at very least under close control and sticking to the paths
Many rare species & disturbance is their worst enemy, causing them to abandon nests, failing to breed. #Surreybirding #RSPB #Birds
We are now finding bird flu in deer mice and house mice in Washington State.
H5N1 is advancing along the evolutionary ladderโaffecting birds, mammals, and humans. This is not speculation; itโs a timeline.
