Primary Maths Network β Spring 2026 Highlights
It is always great to catch up with the maths leads of @FGTrust at @MoatHallPrimary at the spring term #maths #network meeting #cpd
Some big mathematical thinking for SDSA in #Leicester with teachers exploring activities that don't need a worksheet, just minimal resources and some intellectual prep about the questions you might ask.
Sometimes I get to visit schools in the most beautiful locations. As part of @ncetm.bsky.social #TSM work for @em-mathshub.bsky.social, today I get to pop into Monsal Head, #derbyshire
The prompt "Share 24 counters in the following ratios." and "Do any have the same answer?" A table with 25 different ratios, the bottom row requires simplification of the ratios.
In #MathsToday we did a task that creates the need for equivalent ratios.
We used counters, the bottom row is where the real fun starts.
Some great discussions and reflections with the lovely participants of @ncetm.bsky.social and @nmmathshub.bsky.social #Y5to8continuity group.
You know you're in #Sheffield when ...

Numicon was used to support the understanding of converting between the two. I chose to do this because I wanted them to have the experience of using concrete resources and build their knowledge using physical resources before moving onto worksheets. (Y5 teacher)
When asked "What have you found out in your classroom?" one replied:
Although they are becoming confident with multiplication they donβt seem to understand the link to division (Y4 teacher)
Always lovely to work with @ncetm.bsky.social #primary #ECTs in @em-mathshub.bsky.social. They are creating great learning Qs which they are sharing and reflecting on in these pictures (excuse the selfie π).
Thankyou π
Our LLME day with @nmmathshub.bsky.social was partially spent thinking about ratio and S planning. What's the same and different about the representations using @ncetm.bsky.social and @oaknational.bsky.social ?
Another great session with our @ncetm.bsky.social Introduction to Mastery teachers in @em-mathshub.bsky.social. Here they are experiencing quiz quiz trade as a strategy to promote oracy in their classrooms.

Had a very nice calm period 5 with Y7 doing some colouring in. I could hear the chaos of the elf game going on in the room next door and was very glad Iβd gone for this instead! #MathsToday
Arrange the coloured lights on the tree to create a balanced pattern where the total of each colour matches the target numbers shown.
