Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

Striking that the Liberals and Conservatives offer the same response to pain at the pump: siphon money out of the public purse instead of Big Oil’s profits.
The struggle is very real.
1/ Hours after Iran and the U.S. reached a ceasefire deal, Israel launched one of its most devastating attacks on Lebanon to date.
Over a hundred strikes in ten minutes - carnage in Beirut, where hundreds of thousands of displaced people are sheltering.

Screenshot of a post from Donald Trump: A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!
The President of the United States is openly threatening to commit genocide against 90 million people.
Prime Minister Carney: if there was ever a moment to denounce this illegal war, withdraw your support, and call for accountability for war crimes—it’s now.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Can someone pass the Tylenol?

Also, if you're in a position to compensate Autistic people for the education they provide you this month (and all year long), please do so. If you don't have the means to compensate them financially, then you can easily like, share, comment, and generally engage with the content they provide.
If you're not Autistic, this is the month for you to listen and learn. It's not the month for you to talk over/speak for, the Autistic community.
Strive to know better and do better. This Autism Awareness Month, please listen to and amplify Autistic voices. And like I said in my video yesterday, those voices should come from a wide intersection of Autistic experience, because Autistic people are not a monolith.
I am so grateful to the many Autistic researchers, scholars, historians, advocates, etc. that I learned from, and continue to learn from every day.
Here's my request:
When I started ACTUALLY learning about Autism from Autistic people, and through the lens of the neurodiversity paradigm, I had a lot of deconstructing to do. My entire understanding shifted.
C. Think Autism is a behavioral or medical problem to be solved.
D. Aren't Autistic themselves, so are not speaking from lived experience.
A. Based their entire understanding on the incorrect, outdated narratives, stereotypes, and history, they were fed.
B. Think you can understand Autism through observation.
That was because at the time, everything I was taught about Autism (which was almost nothing - despite working with many Autistic kids over the course of my life, and taking many classes in psychology, human development, and education, in university) was taught by people who:
Look, there are things I didn't used to know about Autism, and there were misconceptions I had.
It's World Autism Day, and Day 2 of Autism Awareness Month, and I've already reached my limit with the absolute nonsense I'm seeing spread all over the internet. There's not enough Tylenol in the world for this. (A thread)
Blowback to the @avilewis.ca democratic socialism win in Canada. Not the right-wing meltdown: follow the excellent @rachelgilmore.bsky.social for that.
I'm looking at the dissociative meta-response that cascades through the online mirrorworld.

What an incredible legacy Stephen Lewis left. Condolences and comfort to Avi and his family.
Who's legit crying happy tears over politics on a Sunday morning? This girl.
Avi Lewis's win is a reason to be hopeful, and we need that right now.
We wouldn't have most things worth having in this country, if it wasn't for the NDP.
Congratulations on a well deserved win, Avi! Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Thanks for giving us something to be hopeful about.
Today, NDP delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of a resolution calling on the federal govt to close the loophole that's allowed Canadian-made weapons to be used in human rights abuses abroad — as @jennykwan.bsky.social's Bill C-233 called for.
I was proud to speak in favour of the resolution.
How do you catch a fascist?
Well, anti-fascists like @montrealantifa.bsky.social keep telling us. We just need to listen.
@letsgomathias.bsky.social wrote a book exploring these tactics and the way Antifa has continued to keep fascism at bay for generations.
I spoke to him on today’s episode:
Our country needs a vision that doesn’t just take the world as it is, but fights for the world we need. Now more than ever, Canada needs the NDP.
Our campaign is charting the party's comeback — throwing open its doors to the 99% to build the biggest tent it has ever seen.
Cast your ballot today.
Good! Let's hope it sticks. Unfortunately, this won't reverse the damage that has already been done. It will take years, maybe decades to undo the harm that has been caused.
A group of people in Texas have been convicted for being part of an organization that DOES NOT, and has NEVER, existed.
Antifa means Anti-Facist.
I can't believe this is a thing that needs to be explained to anyone, but here we are.
If you're not ANTI-facist, you're PRO-facist.
Capiche?
Canada must call for an immediate ceasefire as the US and Israel continue their illegal and reckless war.
We should be demanding justice for violations of international law and war crimes, not tap-dancing around whether or not we support this disastrous Trump-led military adventure.
The cost of my reporting stared me in the face last week, when two Nazis showed up to try to intimidate me for my journalism on a private night out.
But that’s far from the only fallout of my latest investigation.
I took a few days, watching the reaction -- and now I’ve got much more to share:
Canadians need to come to terms with the fact that we are complicit in the killing, genocide, destruction, and illegal acts going on in the Middle East and elsewhere. Yesterday, 295 MPs proved that they're ok with contradicting our own country's values, and our (legal) obligations to human rights.
The book, "Autistic Masking: Understanding Identity Management and the Role of Stigma," by Amy Pearson and Kieran Rose. The cover is charcoal grey with a picture of a colorful chameleon on a branch. There are several sticky tabs hanging out of the book. The book is sitting on a grey and floral cushion.
Uta Frith says masking isn't real. Huh. That's weird, because there's a whole academic book (among other things) written about it.
Autistic Masking was published in 2023.
Somehow, I doubt she's read it. Sigh.

Hi! I am an Autistic (AuDHD) person who was never much on Twitter, but have been on here intermittently for awhile, and am still having a hard time understanding this place (how to use it effectively). Welcome! The starter packs are helpful.
