It's a long shot (given that I'm an English lass in France with about 10 followers), but IF you happen to be passing through #California today, switch your #radio on and tune into KPFA (94.1 FM) for 24 hours of programming dedicated to #Internationalwomensday
Oh, that's awful!! What is wrong with people?! I'll be sure to spread the message. Thanks for letting me know.

Back in January, I spotted a #pitchcallout which aligned perfectly with an #audio #documentary I had in mind. To my utter delight, my pitch was accepted - and 'The Art of Exile' will be featured as part of @kpfa.org's #IWD programming. The #IWD2026 theme #givetogain feels very apt.
Luck plays a big role in this story - and luck is what presented me with two long car journeys during which I could satisfy my need to consume this entire series as soon as possible. Stellar #storytelling by @sammullins.bsky.social and producer @alexgatenby.bsky.social ! 👏

They'd been wearing the emperor's new clothes! (But as someone producing podcasts, I can understand the desire to see healthy download stats/some evidence that there's an audience! I'd have been disappointed to learn the truth too)
I think it was an iOS update in 2024 that changed things - it stopped automatically downloading missed episodes of podcasts people had subscribed to, if they stopped listening and then subsequently restarted (hope that makes sense - it's hard to explain in so few characters!).
Oh, my!
I've heard people rave about this series from @sammullins.bsky.social and, just 48'22" in, I'm beginning to see why.
Aside from the utterly compelling mystery it sets out to unravel, the scripting is joyous and the contributors are comfortingly familiar.

Coming to the airwaves soon...
I'm both excited and terrified to be putting my audio work out into the world again!
These stories need to be heard and it's a huge privilege (and responsibility) to be the one who gets to tell them.
That's useful to know, thank you (I don't use an iPhone, but I've been led to believe it's an automatic thing). Is automatic downloading the default setting? Are users reminded that they can change it? Such a narrow topic, so many questions! 🤣
Hi, thanks for getting involved! I wasn't actually very clear in my post (that was seen by absolutely no-one as I have no friends here) - I was referring to the inability to switch off automatic downloads of podcasts via apple podcasts, which I'm fairly sure isn't possible. Which means you win!!
And that right there is why #downloads arent an accurate way to measure #podcast #audiences.
Sure, I'll listen to some of the automatically downloaded episodes, but not all of them.
And yes, this is a @pocketcasts.com feature I can switch off, but if you're listening on a iPhone, you can't.
"It’s in the messy middle of a story that’s gone off the rails that creators are often found wandering the halls, pouring their seventh cup of coffee, wondering whether to finally apply for a job at the post office." - @elaineagrant.bsky.social
I'm feeling this.
While I'm getting things off my chest... If you run a #podcastnetwork (I'm looking at you @iheartmedia.bsky.social 👀) could you limit your cross promos to three at a time max? I'm actively looking for new #podcastseries - I'm your ideal listener - and even I'm tuning out by the fourth one.
I'm really enjoying this series, but my attention kept snagging during the third episode, in which narrator @aarontracy.bsky.social repeatedly refers to Alfred Hitchcock as 'Hitch', like he's a close friend. I was hoping the credits would say the series was written by Trace. pca.st/podcast/7f09...
"My love for art was so mad that I started making chalices for rastas to smoke weed in." 🤣
And that's not even the most interesting thing #drumnbass superstar, Goldie, has to say when he joins @gracedent.bsky.social for some 'comfort eating' (such a great #podcast concept).

Yooooohooooo, #renovation folk in #France! Another episode of the French Reno Diaries #podcast has landed. Ignore it at your peril! 🇫🇷⚒️ rss.com/podcasts/fre...
Whoever edits the @diaryofaceo.bsky.social intros, you have created a genre. Every single job ad for a #podcast #editor cites your intro as an example of what they want*. Must be time to change it 😝
*What they don't want, however, is to pay someone properly for doing it 🤬 #goodeditingtakestime
How do you tell the difference between an audio professional/person of basic intellect and a content creator? The former knows what the 'clip' part of 'clip mic' means!
The campaign to end giantism starts now!

Are you an #anglophone in #France? Are you #renovating #property? Don't believe the hype - it's not all Chablis and croissants! Join Rosie, Sue and Micala for some smart advice and lots of laughs in this brand new #podcast, launching tomorrow, 6th Jan. Hear the trailer now! rss.com/podcasts/fre...
Also, you probably didn't notice, but I'm now posting links to @pocketcasts.com having abandoned Spotify. Why? Because as good as it is from a user POV, I don't want to contribute to a company whose CEO is investing the wealth it's bringing him in an AI military startup.
If you can get past the audio smorgasbord accompanying the first episode, this is a really compelling listen - so much so that I've been purposely choosing Tuesday to go running, to coincide with the release of new episodes. But you, my friend, can binge it all in one! pca.st/podcast/5c5d...
If I'm not listening to #podcasts, I'm listening to music. And this is what my head's been bopping to while I've been writing today. A class (and ridiculously loving and carefree) act 👌 youtube.com/watch?v=xpvj...
Great find! We're in synch today btw - I've just posted my thoughts on a podcast about the human voice 🗣️
Did you know that the first 'voice' sounded like a fart? I didn't, until I heard this episode of @radiolab.bsky.social which takes the listener all the way from our fishy evolutionary beginnings to the modern inventions that aid speech, via beautifully spliced conversation and thoughtful narration.
If you've ever said #namaste to someone, the science is now all there to support the sentiment that there really IS light inside us all - thanks to the work of @msahsorin.bsky.social and her colleagues. Fantastic episode of the @radiolab.bsky.social #podcast ✨🙏✨

If you don't fucking like coarse language, then this might not be the #podcast for you. If you love fucking brilliantly produced #scriptedaudio, however, then you should listen to this short series about the criminal felling of the ancient tree at #sycamoregap! www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/serie...
I started listening to this #interview while folding clothes, and ended by lying on the bed on my stomach, unable to let go of my phone as my heart broke...and then healed. A poignant and pertinent #story for our times, graciously told - and courageously lived. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
