It was indestructible for about twenty minutes. #Harriettethedog #dogs
Undergraduate Student Showcase @tnwesleyan Shout out to the TWU Research Team for making this possible. Great plenary speaker! Great student presentations! Great day! #undergraduateresearch
Environmental field research with my students is an absolute joy! Fish surveys are rewarding when students gain knowledge about native fish. The icing on the cake is when they fall in love with our beautiful fish. 🩷 #electrofishing #fish #environmentalscience #urbanstreams
Guess what I am doing today. Also, props to the Prius! 🙃
Perfect way to spend this April 10. Canoeing. Reading outside. Watching wildlife. #canoeing #wildlife #Thoreau #grateful
How it started. How it is going. No dogs were harmed, just hugged. 😊 #Harriettethedog #ilovedogs #rescuedogs
Thinking of my teacher friends today. I cannot imagine teaching with the current harsh reality and relentless uncertainty we are experiencing. I know they are doing it daily. And I know we can choose a better reality for our teachers and our children. #teachers
Harriette and I have been going for walks. She is curious but does not chase wild animals even noisy ducks. She likes to boop wildflowers. She waits patiently while her human turns over rocks in #MouseCreek to look at #macroinvertebrates #Harriettethedog @spcabctn #rescuedogs
I think she feels comfortable now and has even figured out how to play with her toy. #Harriette #dogs #rescuedogs @spcabctn
I brought Harriette home from @spcabctn ! She came to the shelter as a puppy in May. She is getting accustomed to her new backyard and chin scratches. She was listed as a terrier and I see that but I also see some Irish Wolfhound. What do you think? #dogs #rescuedogs #Harriette
Hanging out with a friend at work. Wonderful if I could fly up and sit on that branch…my class doesn’t start until 9:30. #birds #daydreams #outside #trees
Since age 55, I completed my PhD, retired from a career, climbed my first 14’er, embarked on a new career, lived every day with gratitude despite heartache. I am not unique. Women across the world get up every day and work hard in the face of an array of struggles. #womenshistorymonth #gratitude
Yes, I am a nerd. This is how my mind works while simultaneously thinking…I love them. ❤️
Two archosaurs (diapsids) enjoyed the sun while this mammal (synapsid) enjoyed watching them. But hey—we are all tetrapods. #phylogeny #tetrapods #archosaurs
Shout out to Dr. Lasseigne, @bellingrathgardens, for graciously showing us around and answering all of my questions about educational programs. Excited to learn about the Hydrologic Monitoring of Fowl River project. #scienceeducation #rivers #waterquality #ASB2026
Great workshop at #ASB2026. Vouchering plant specimens is slightly different from vouchering fish specimens but no less interesting. 😂 #plants #herbarium
One of my greatest joys is mentoring students in environmental field research. I am overjoyed to see Valerie present at the Association of Southeastern Biologist meeting. Students like Valerie show me how blessed I am every day. @tnwesleyan @twu_kilbride #environmentalscience #research
So happy to be in Mobile at #ASB2026. Excellent talk by Dr. Carmichael. Looking forward to Valerie’s poster presentation tomorrow! #research #environmentalscience #urbanstreams
I have served as the director of this beautiful, unique , truly special place for two and a half years. Love my student interns. Love our volunteers. #KilbrideNatureSanctuary #environmentalscience www.wutc.org/show/scenic-...
Do you see? Do you see the head? And this one nearby? A narrow fellow, but in the leaves rather than in the grass. One of nature’s people I know and I definitely don’t feel “…Zero at the Bone.” Still thinking of Emily. #snakes #poetry #wildlife #nature
I have been leading a science program for the sweetest group of home school students at the sanctuary. We meet Monday mornings. This morning one of the students asked me if I live here. My soul needed to be seen today. Grateful she saw me as the feral wood nymph I am. #grateful #mysoul #nature
Reading has always given me great comfort. Spending time with Emily on this #worldpoetryday #poetry #hummingbird #reading #books
I am so excited to work with Xingli, Mehmet, and Matt to offer this important, and super fun, PD again this summer! You will see beautiful fish! #FishyClimate @utknoxville @utsa @tnwesleyan We hope you can join us! Register today! #fish #STEM #scienceeducation
March 16 in Southeast Tennessee. #snow
Unpopular I know, but I don’t really like pie. But, one of the math teachers always had students bring in pie for Pi Day and I thought that was awesome!
