Not quite, but sort of. It appears that there are proteins that synthesise DNA from free nucleotides without a template - the reverse of the Central Dogma.
The proteins don't influence the coding DNA that made them, but do make new DNA using the biochemical equivalent of basic building blocks.
Well this I did not expect...

An exciting PhD opportunity investigating ribosome hibernation in cancer is available in my lab, in collaboration with Steffen Scholpp and Ke Li! The interdisciplinary project will span cell biology, structural biology, and AI-guided modelling. Please get in touch if you are interested!
Excited to advertise a fully funded PhD with @socialinfluenza.bsky.social investigating how influenza virus evolution differs between different avian hosts (and how this impacts pandemic potential). Joint between @pirbrightinst.bsky.social + @cvrinfo.bsky.social

Beautiful tomography work by @debnathghosal.bsky.social as always!
So something sun-like is rising (very far north), but there's a solar reflection over the Iberian peninsula suggesting the sun is already well up in the sky?
Use both until you've a reason to choose one over the other.
Interested in doing a PhD to help solve the South Australian Karenia cristata toxic algal bloom problem? Applications close next week and project start is mid 2026 (July/August). A great opportunity to work with the amazing Shauna Murray (@shaunamurray.bsky.social)

Hasn't *everyone* looking at membrane proteins being doing this since AF3 was first released?!?!
Section in a book on vaccine adjuvants titled Leveraging Large Datasets for Adjuvant Discovery. The text details analysis of volumetric CT chest scans for tumors, having absolutely nothing to do with adjuvants or vaccines.
Recently published (2025) book on Vaccine Adjuvants. Section on AI/ML in adjuvant discovery. Looks more like a Section on using AI/ML in writing your chapter...
But they're always so negative...
It's the aesthetics Kevin.
Here's a picture of a dangerous snake on a rock. Here's one under a log. Here's another having a swim. Here's the one that killed Billy fastened to his hand...

And we know that bat immune systems are... well, a bit odd shall we say?
Poking them at a population level seems like a "let's put lead in petrol" quality idea, solving one minor problem to trigger a massive new problem down the track.
Was really abrupt for me - no need for glasses at all until ~42 then found one evening that I couldn't read small print on a map in dim light. Hadn't noticed any issue until then. Distance vision still better than 6/6 but reading glasses are now essential.
Hopefully it has a chapter on recipes.
Come do a PhD with me and @trevor-lithgow.bsky.social at @monashuniversity.bsky.social ! We’re at the leading edge of pathogen biology using cutting edge Cryo-EM and AI-driven genetic screens to uncover the mysteries of outer membrane biology. Reach out to me for a chat!

For the same reason every hardware company invents it's own special port-shape for otherwise identical data/power connections.
