Really cool paper from Marie-Anne Felix's lab. Genetic variation in set-24 controls the duration of epigenetic inheritance.

Beautiful, layered argument for the use of model organisms, especially small ones, in research. A must read!
Honored that our piece was published in #TheScientist today. We wanted to use this opportunity to reflect on the devastating impact of frozen federal research grants, not just on science, but on the people behind the science and whose futures are at stake.
This project will take me back to France to explore the critical interface between science and policy in pesticide regulation. I am deeply grateful to the University of Montpellier, Institut ExposUM, AurΓ©lie Binot, and Mariline Poupaud for their support and partnership in this exciting endeavor.
After a period of uncertainty about the programβs future, I am thrilled to share that I have been awarded a hashtag#Fulbright Scholar Award, one of the worldβs most internationally recognized academic exchange programs.
This is the fruit of Abigail Bline's Ph.D. work. Please read more about Abby in Toxicological Sciences feature: www.linkedin.com/posts/toxico...
π¨ New paper alert from our lab! Using model system and in vitro approaches, we demonstrate that PFAS, likely due to their physicochemical properties as surfactant, disrupt liquid-like condensates critical for reproduction. Link: academic.oup.com/toxsci/advan...

3/3 I am deeply concerned though for all UCLA trainees and employees and our ability to safeguard and retain the next generation of scientific talent.
2/3 Our goal was ultimately to design strategies to reverse its effect and prevent its well known effects including its carcinogenicity. But it looks like this important work will have to wait...
1/3 It's official, our grants from the NIH/NIEHS have all been suspended. We were aiming to understand how arsenic, a chemical that millions of Americans are exposed to at high levels, is disrupting the epigenetic machinery.
Can you believe that it is my first SSR conference despite having worked in reproductive biology since the late 90's??!! If you are attending the meeting, come and find me! And thank you to Martha Susiarjo and Blanche Capel for the invitation to speak!
We will be there too. Consider attending this Epigenetics workshop in Erice, Sicily! (see link below).
Check out Adam Filipowicz's poster (621A) on Sunday on the assessment of newer generation pesticides for neurodegeneration and Ivan Olaya's poster (250B) on Monday on the transgenerational meiotic impact of ethanol.
Great story and great story telling! π
Conferences have felt different this year but looking forward to catching up with friends and colleagues and presenting some of our work at #Worm25.
All of that originated from the education, training, and research that happen at universities. All of that is getting defunded and will go away. The future of life in America is bleak.
I want people to look around and pay attention to all the technology they are using or the medicine they are taking. I want people to think of their loved ones and the race for cures against cancer or Alzheimer's.
On my way to the 2025 Germinal Stem Cell Biology GRC chaired by Mitinori Saitou in Barcelona. Really looking forward to learn about the latest advances in in vitro and in vivo germ cell biology!

I was inspired today by the Out Toxicologists and Allies Special Interest Group's idea of using this as an opportunity to support local organizations such as the Orlando Youth Alliance. You can read their mission and support them by following the link below.
