Cartoon. The introduction says, “Worried about the fall out from the war on Iran, Finance Minister Nicola Willis goes to Washington to ask:” and the image shows the Oval Office with President of the USA Donald Trump. He is being Jesus, with his hands raised, eyes closed, and wearing a white gown with a red sash and a long red tie. Nicola Willis says to him, “”When can we expect a return to normal?” Trump opens one eye and replies, “Huh?”

Anyone banning renewables should be facing criminal charges of crimes against humanity and long prison sentences.

We are facing rapid extreme climate change already and we need to end fossil fuel use immediately.

New York votes socialism.
London votes socialism.
Amsterdam votes socialism.
Paris votes socialism.
Chicago votes socialism.
Milan votes socialism.

All the capitals of capitalism are voting for socialism.

There’s a hint here somewhere.

Here’s the network map evidence shows we need to complete to make riding a viable for more people in AKL. Much of this doesn’t exist yet, delayed by misinformation and political opportunism. Can be done cheaply and quickly, if we choose to, for the same cost as a short section of mega-motorway:

"The price issue will impact our economy as more people's budgets is being spent on fuel, and less on discretionary items - but the far greater risk to our economy is a fuel shortage."

With the IMF warning the global fuel situation was likely to lead to a global recession, Luxon said that was why the government was focused on avoiding the mistakes seen during the Covid response.

"We're acting economically responsibly, and prudently, to make sure that we keep an eye on the long-term future for New Zealand and it's economic situation, as well as targeted support for people who need it."

He would not say he agreed with the United States' stance that short-term pain was worth it for long-term security.

"What I agree with is we want this resolved as quickly as possible. We want the parties negotiating, I know ceasefire negotiations, you know, we want ceasefire will remain holding, we want the parties negotiating a negotiated settlement."

Reading these quotes from Luxon it is clear to me that he is completely out of his depth. His incompetence is dangerous to the future wellbeing of this country #nzzpol

This is the missing piece in the solar story.

Home batteries that are grid connected and allow for load distribution and mitigation at peak times are obliterating power costs in Australia.

NZ govt …🥱… 🦗🦗🦗🦗

😡😡😡

BOOM!
South Australia's power prices have plummeted as they near 100% renewables, proving to the world that relying on wind and solar with battery back-up is possible, more reliable and costs people less.

THIS is how we avoid the next oil crisis.

This person is the PM's new communications adviser. Rachel Smalley, cruel and nasty, seems a good match for Luxon.

That's odd. Ask them if they stock them. A few years ago, our stores were keeping low alc and no alcohol beer and wine off the shelves but my clients' enquiries resulted in them putting them out on display. That's now standard practice I think. So, worth raising it.

Australia could have been 100% renewables by now if john howard and his party of climate denialists had not been elected in 1996. The decade of abbott, turnbull and morriscum held this country back from becoming self sufficient in energy production by serving murdoch and their fossil fool donors.

Timaru's bus fleet to be fully electric Canterbury Regional Council said the service would now be fully electric with the upcoming introduction of ten electric vehicles.

'Six of the new EVs, known as "very small buses" or VSBs, are the first of their kind in New Zealand and can seat up to 13 people, with another 13 standing.'

Good on Timaru. Auckland needs local shuttles to link with bus and train hubs.

The climate grief feels really real at the moment.

Feels very wrong, like a kind of ancient knowledge wrong, that it's been 24° all week in April.

Hard to prepare for cyclones that I've watched hit our country before, that people have died from before, will hit now, and again in the future.

If POTUS can say “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again”…unbridled hate has been unleashed. I recognise most of this rhetoric and underlying ideas are imported and regurgitated. I hope they don’t take root in NZ. And yes, we must fight for better leaders.

What does populist political speech result in? Since India-NZ FTA in December '25, I've studied a significant, and, tellingly, sustained rise in anti-Indian rhetoric, racism, & related harms across country's far-right, disinfo landscapes online. Often, this is linked to Peters', & NZF output. #nzpol

It's not by coincidence that Winston Peters is a regular voice featured on the far-right Reality Check Radio (RCR) platform, and has, especially since 2023, led the production of hate, and harms against immigrants - including those who are NZ citizens in parliament. bsky.app/profile/sanj...

The Pope’s response to being threatened by the Pentagon?
- Cancelled his July 4th US visit.
- Spending our 250th birthday on an island where African migrants wash ashore.
- Told Catholics to call their reps and demand an end to the Iran war.
The first American pope.
He will NOT be bullied by Trump!

Netanyahu's need for war to distract the Israeli public is motivated by his evasion of criminal charges that could put him behind bars for a very long time.

He's as desperate as Trump is to distract attention from the Epstein revelations. - for the same reason.

Israeli govt continues to demonstrate its belligerence. Traditionally the US used to try to pull it back from its illegal activities. The Biden-Trump years will go down as ones where the US facilitated astonishing war crimes & genocide. The breach of the ceasefire is a disaster for the US*

This is Gaza 2.0 – and the world is barely paying attention.
