Yesterday I lost 4 species from my life list, today I added another to my 'dip list' 🤦‍♂️ not all was lost, good to have all the Shetland crew back together and 6x year ticks added!

Red Kite

Nothing new around #LadywalkNR this morning but not too bad a visit on a windy day!
Highlights included a partial eclipse Mandarin, a very distant Harrier almost certainly Marsh, Red Kite, 6x Oycs & 3x LRP.
Unusual to see someone camped on one of the River Tame islands!

A few people have commented about the lack of recent otter updates at #ladywalk_nr This is due to the Trail camera and some associated equipment being stolen from the reserve. This also raises the problem that I’m reluctant to place another camera in the same spot.

Stone-curlew, Great Reed Warbler, Roe Deer, Spoonbill, Cley, Corn Bunting.

Curlew Sandpiper, Brent Goose, Spoonbill, Pink-footed Goose, Whooper Swan, Mediterranean Gull.

Common Tern on patch.

Mini birding break away, visiting Cambs, Suffolk, Norfolk & Lincs, and finishing off at my local patch #LadywalkNR 11 year ticks and a patch year tick made for an enjoyable couple of days 😀

Well, I may have missed the Woodchat Shrike due to a planned weekend away at Heythrope Park in the Cotswolds but nice to find this unexpected cracker in the hotel grounds.

Fly visit to Middleton Lakes RSPB after work, got a bit of a soaking on the way back to the car after a mini thunderstorm but another year tick made it worthwhile while.

As well as Peacocks, lots of Orange-tip, Speckled Wood, Brimstone & Red Admiral on the wing.

After a minor painful op yesterday, i was only going to wander around Fishery Lanes at #LadywalkNR but ended up doing a very slow full circuit. No year ticks, unfortunately, but it's good to be out and about again 😄
