Just finished a fantastic trip to Yellowstone National Park! (Thank You Park Service - America's best idea!). Lots of cool predators (wolves, coyote, fox, grizzly, black bear, badger, lots of raptors). My favorite raptor photo - Red-tailed Hawk with Uinta Ground Squirrel. #BirdsofPrey #raptors

(2/2) This manuscript highlights the power of collaborations among various research organizations. While we have only noted a few cases at Intermountain Bird Observatory in Idaho, our surveillance is important to measure the spread of this disease.

We hear lots of news about golden eagle mortality by wind turbines. However, this is not the largest source of mortality in the western US. Any guesses?

Illegal shooting... Needless and disgusting! (Katzner et al. 2020, Millsap et al. 2022)

I agree with all points except Common Ravens (in North America) do travel in groups. Adults are territorial (in pairs), but young non-breeding birds, form groups. They will work together to overrun the territorial pair when food is present.

Great afternoon walk along the Boise River (Idaho, USA). My best two photos - Common Merganser and Bald Eagle. Both eagles were within 100 m of the nest that they have been working on.

I's an ornithologist at the Intermountain Bird Observatory/Boise State University. I primarily focus on raptors, but also do a lot on woodpeckers, migration, and some other sensitive species. Welcome!

As a cancer patient, and a human being, this is disgusting. I used to have UHC insurance (the worst I have ever had). I even won a class action lawsuit on one of their previous "screw the patient" schemes.

American Goshawk, "Purple 2U" (color band not visible) is at least 9 years old. Banded in 2018 as full adult. She has successfully raised young in all but 1 year since 2018, almost always having 3 offspring. Can't wait to meet up with her again in June. #Birds #RaptorResearch #addBirder
