A large, gray bird with a dagger-like beak, an s-curved neck with long, shaggy feathers hanging off the bottom curve, and thick, drumstick legs stands knee-deep in a stream in profile facing right. It is very early morning, and the picture is mostly black with a few very faint hints of sticks or stones in the surrounding area. Soft sunlight has highlighted the Heron, and its image is reflected off the gently rippling water, but a close look at the Heron's body shows a reflection of the water's ripples as well.
The water is not the only reflective surface early in the morning.
