The trumpet honeysuckle continues to develop! I love these guys - they’re native, friendly, and easy to grow. They’re also easy to propagate - if you see some out in the wild, you can always propagate them!

While the roses continue to do their thing, there’s other stuff blooming! We love phlox - it’s native, has a nice texture, and if you’re going to be somewhere for a while then it can grow with you!

Here’s some more multiflora in Rob Wallace Park ☹️ it forms dense thickets like this and unlike greenbriar and blackberry its thorns are curved, which means it’s VERY hard to handle.

This is maaaaybe the growth of two years or less. It grows real fast!

While my boys recover from pruning let’s talk multiflora!

Rosa multiflora is not native (which to be fair most roses aren’t) and also incredibly aggressive. Here’s a picture of some I helped pull out today! Tune in this week for more nerding out and let me know if you’ve seen any locally! #roses

80 degrees followed by frost next week, and other NC things 🔥❄️ But don’t hold off on pruning! Frosts happen all the time. Do:

👉 Leave a bit of extra growth if you’re concerned about frost damage - you can prune that later
👉 Make sure your roses are well hydrated!
👉 Monitor for black spot
