AI tools like Grok have been used to generate non-consensual sexualised images of women and UK law is still struggling to keep up.
We reflect on what this reveals about accountability, online abuse, and why prevention must come first.

The misuse of the AI tool, Grok, to degrade and humiliate women is unacceptable. This was predictable, preventable, and enabled by platforms that chose speed and profit over women’s safety and dignity. We will keep scrutinising the development of AI and how it is misused to inflict harm on women.

Letting social media companies get away with monetising misinformation doesn’t protect democracy and free speech, it weakens it.

As our children spend more time online, it has never been more important for parents to have a voice in shaping a safer digital world.
Join me on the 27th of November for a parents forum on online safety, where we’ll discuss your experiences, concerns and ideas to help shape a safer online world.
Thanks for all the action that you are leading in your different roles. Our group welcome and support your work.
As we move into November this is a month that is very close to my heart.
This month we will celebrate both White Ribbon Day and Equal Pay Day so it was great to meet with Fawcett to discuss various issues facing women and girls today.

Photo of Claire Throssell with text that says: After a decade-long campaign, the UK government has repealed the legal presumption of parental contct! What does that mean? Arrow to next slide
What is the "presumption"? til now, family courts were legally guided to presume that it's in the best interest of a child to have access to both parents, even if one of those parents is a known perpetrator of abuse. Today the government has removed this harmful presumption.
Presumption costs lives. 19 children have been killed by a parent in the last decade as a result of unsafe child contact arrangenents. All preventable. For years, child victims of domestic abuse have been silenced and failed by the systems meant to protect them.
Women's Aid say: We're calling for a whole-system approach to centring children's voices in the courts and beyond. We want to see: children put first and the Harm Panel recommendations implemented in full. Regular and mandatory training for family court judges and agencies, developed with specialist domestic abuse services. A fixed system with real communication, coordination and accountability.
Incredible news! We strongly welcome plans to repeal the presumption of parental involvement, which will protect children from abuse & save lives.
This is a long overdue change to how our family courts operate.
Hugely grateful to Claire Throssell for her tireless campaigning @womensaid.bsky.social

We welcome cyberflashing being made a priority offence in the #OnlineSafetyAct, which will require tech companies to do more to identify it.
This must translate into stronger preventative action to stop it from happening and protect women and girls online.
In spring 2025, girls aged 10-18 shared their thoughts and experiences of Rowntree Park in York, and other public parks more broadly. Their voices highlight what makes these spaces feel welcoming - and what could be improved. Part of a local project to raise awareness and improve things.

“59% of history lessons at key stage 3 did not mention women at all” and
“when women were mentioned, the report found they were more often victims than protagonists, with the women murdered by Jack the Ripper more likely to be taught […] than the female code breakers at Bletchley Park”
As we launch our report into the History curriculum the wonderful @katemossewriter.bsky.social has published Feminist History for Every Day of the Year, which celebrates women and girls of the past and the present.

Including more women and girls in the taught curriculum will help keep working class girls engaged in school and show them what they can become.
Today the Employment Rights Bill returns to the Commons.
We’re backing @womensbudgetgrp.bsky.social & several women’s orgs to urge the Govt: Stick to your commitments.
This Bill is a chance to advance workplace equality, it must not be watered down or delayed.

Two days after #NationalDemocracyDay, the UK rolls out the red carpet for Trump.
A billionaire built on misogyny, division and privilege. His presence in power silences women and rewards inequality.
We won’t stand for it.
