Good morning and happy #thicktrunktuesday Climacodon septentrionalis, commonly known as the northern tooth fungus or the white rot fungus. This species is a plant pathogen and attacks the heartwood of living trees. Hard to miss because of its bright, creamy white colouring and giant size!

Veggie garden is roughed in and I'm excited! Had to remove the fire pit as this is the only spot with the most sun. Lots and lots of rocks, cardboard down to suppress the weeds that we missed. On our deck right now enjoying a cold one. Exhausted...
The orange ones look like velvet shanks, do a spore print. As they age the stem gets really dark and kinda fuzzy.

shimeji is beech mushroom and I tried to grow them years ago with no luck. Chestnut mushrooms - (Pholiota adiposa) is the latin name. Hypsizgus is usually elm oyster family.

Finally the first flowers of spring, my goodness it's been a long, bitter cold winter. Lenton rose, hyacinth, and snowdrops. Decorated my birch frame with some fake tulips. Bring it on and I may be able to sit on the deck this weekend as they're calling for warmer weather.

Spore print will be dark so make sure they are properly ID. I am a grower also and these guys are cultivated. I pick them early as bugs and slugs love them.

I have this one book from him and it is the funniest book ever!! He got it right and I love the taste of this mushroom. Stinky "yep" kinda like dryads and I like that one too, just need to get it young and cooked properly.
Using up my freezer matsutake - pine mushroom from the fall and boy oh boy the house smells spicy and sweet. Google said they smell like cinnamon, red hots, and dirty socks! Lol 🤣 tortellini with stinky socks for tonight's supper. Lucky hubby ❤️
