We've used WheresWalker to map our newly discovered #darkyolk zebrafish mutants which have defects in #ApoB-lipoprotein metabolism. We map zion to slc3a2a, a heterodimeric amino acid transporter, and find that several SLC3a2/SLC7s are associated with ApoB phenotypes in humans.
Validated in #zebrafish & #maize, this pipeline uses a combination of #mapping-by-sequencing and #recombinantmapping to narrow the number of candidate genes which can be tested using #F0crispr
Announcing WheresWalker! A fast, accurate mutation-mapping pipeline that accelerates gene discovery with forward genetic screening.

🏞️🏞️. Our adventure into this biological wilderness is just beginning - we can't wait to share what we'll discover.
Last week was #NationalParkWeek! To celebrate - meet our National Park inspired #zebrafish mutants. From acadia to zion, our “dark yolk” mutants are shedding light 💡on new biology that will help us to better understand how diabetes and cardiovascular disease develop.
